Description

The code clarifies that when people cycling are going straight ahead at a junction, they have priority over traffic waiting to turn into or out of a side road, unless road signs or markings indicate otherwise. The code has been updated to clarify that when turning into or out of a side road, people cycling should give way to people walking who are crossing or waiting to cross. There is new guidance in the code about routes and spaces which are shared by people walking, cycling and riding horses.

Every road user must have a full understanding of the rules and the penalties that are issued when they are not followed. TSO is one of the largest publishers by volume in the UK, publishing more than 9,000 titles a year in print and digital formats for a wide range of clients. It ran from July to October 2020, and received more than 20,000 responses from the public, businesses and other organisations. a) The hierarchy of road users - this means the introduction of new responsibilities towards more vulnerable road users, to keep them safe on the road. Some junctions now include small cycle traffic lights at eye-level height, which may allow cyclists to move separately from or before other traffic. You MUST give way to pedestrians on a zebra crossing, and to pedestrians and cyclists on a parallel crossing (see Rule 195). We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

Junctions - You should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road that you’re turning into. Although failure to comply with the other rules of The Highway Code will not, in itself, cause a person to be prosecuted, The Highway Code may be used in evidence in any court proceedings under the Traffic Acts (see The road user and the law) to establish liability. People cycling are asked to watch out for people driving intending to turn across their path, as people driving ahead may not be able to see them. None of this detracts from the responsibility of ALL road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders, to have regard for their own and other road users’ safety.

The aim of The Highway Code is to promote safety on the road, whilst also supporting a healthy, sustainable and efficient transport system. By ‘self-driving vehicles’, we mean those listed as automated vehicles by the Secretary of State for Transport under the Automated and Electric Vehicles Act 2018. My brother got fined for going in the bus channel so older drivers need to keep alert to these changes. Not just drivers but pedestrians, cyclists and all road users should keep up to date and this is the official guide to do that. Road markings used, including those across the carriageway, along the carriageway, along the edge of the carriageway, on the kerb or at the edge of the carriageway and other road markings.

Always remember that the people you encounter may have impaired sight, hearing or mobility and that this may not be obvious. You may turn your attention away from the road and you may also view content through the vehicle’s built-in infotainment apparatus, if available.

Every body who drives on our roads should read this booklet ,and also those intending to drive on our roads . NewI purchased this alongside the "Official DVSA Guide to Driving - the essential skills"I'm a new learner driver about to do my practical sessions. The introduction section of The Highway Code has been updated to include 3 new rules about the new ‘hierarchy of road users’. This new edition incorporates new rules on: a) The hierarchy of road users - this means the introduction of new responsibilities towards more vulnerable road users, to keep them safe on the road. A parallel crossing is similar to a zebra crossing, but includes a cycle route alongside the black and white stripes.

The Highway Code is essential reading for all road users, from drivers to cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and horseriders. With information on roads and road markings, motorways, traffic signs, documentation, the road user and the law, this is essential reading for all drivers – not just those learning to drive. Further information on driving/riding techniques can be found in ‘The Official DVSA Guide to Driving – the essential skills’ and ‘The Official DVSA Guide to Riding – the essential skills’. Guidance has been added to explain that people driving should take extra care when entering a roundabout to make sure they do not cut across people cycling, riding a horse or driving a horse-drawn vehicle who are continuing around the roundabout in the left-hand lane. Seeing a term and then actively attempting to remember the meaning helps to move it from short-term to long-term memory.I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this item - the flash cards had a paper wrap around them to prevent them from damage in transit and the the printed packaging box was very robust. These vehicles are capable of safely driving themselves when the self-driving function is correctly turned on and the driver follows the manufacturer’s instructions.
