Note that the Core XT also has a single 3-pin RGB channel that can also be used for a fan hub or strips or whatever . Adding a Lighting Node CORE controller would be an ideal solution if you need to connect more than six RGB fans.

So if you need more RGB/fans, then you need another CORE (with or without XT) or lightning node pro (just remember this one is RGB only, not fan control). If you don't have any of those RGB controllers from old builds, the Commander XT is the logical choice.
