About this deal

She was tucked away amongst the Sithan and the Red Caps and all the other mythical beings and folk tales of Scotland; a completely original, 20th-century incarnation of magic and mystery. She was found naked, apart from a black cloak, with scratches on her feet, and a knife was found nearby, as well as a cross that was cut into the hillside near the body.

Netta spent most of her days wandering the tiny island alone and spent her nights engaged in various supernatural practices. There is something weird happening, a quiet muttering in the background and an eerie light on the simple set. Mrs Cameron tried to calm her, explaining there would be no ferry until the morning but Netta would not be placated until the family helped her pack up all of her belongings ready to leave at the first opportunity. Columba banished women and cows from Iona stating “where there is a cow there is a woman, and where there is a woman there is mischief”. At some point after her death, Netta Fornario was reproduced along with other members of the Golden Dawn by Coronzon, through the application of Tarot-based grimoires, as part of her anti- Crowley countermeasures.

There is an interesting book, "The Immortal Hour: The True Story of Netta Fornario," by Ben Oakley that includes many details of her life. In his memoirs, Aleister Crowley also claimed to have been a victim of a psychic attack, and also said he had done battle with someone on the astral plane. Not just because it is unsolved, but because of Netta’s lifestyle, and her deep involvment in Occult practices. There is also the question of why that cross had been carved and why she just happened to have been found on a fairy mound. Most alarmingly, she mentioned the fact she was accustomed to going into long trances, sometimes for an entire week.It wasn’t until the early hours of the 19th November that Netta’s body was discovered by two locals, Hector MacLean and Hector MacNiven next to Sithean Mor, the faery hill of Iona. Columba first dragged his wicker coracle ashore in 563, it has been known as the ‘cradle of Christianity’, a place of pilgrimage. There has been a brief hiatus after Alex Dickson stepped down from his role as the organiser of ‘entertainments’ in Assynt, but a new team, led by Clive Sheppard, has stepped in to continue the tradition.
