Earlier this week, God of War returned to Playstation Now on PC, reigniting the excitement for playing through this modern masterpiece. The resurgence of the franchise since the well-received 2018 reboot has sparked interest in exploring the previous titles on PC. Fans who have joined the God of War journey with the Norse games now have the opportunity to delve into the earlier installments and witness Kratos' journey from a vengeful Spartan warrior to a conflicted father figure. Our PC version includes a wide range of graphical presets and options so you can fine-tune your visual experience based on your setup. From higher resolution shadows and improved screen space reflections to enhancements to the ambient occlusion pipeline with GTAO and SSDO – God of War on the PC can create striking visual quality unique to the platform. The main plot tasks Kratos with rescuing Helios, the Titan God of the Sun, from the underworld at the behest of Athena. There, he encounters the game’s primary antagonist Persephone, Queen of the Underworld. Persephone presents Kratos with an opportunity to reunite with his daughter, and Kratos wrestles with the apocalyptic repercussions of that reunion and his promise to return Helios to the gods.

It's exciting to think about what God of War's landing on PC could mean for the console exclusive status quo. Sony has a dedicated PC publishing label now. As the company gets more serious about PC ports, will we ever get to the point where its games release on PC months after launch instead of years? Kratos realizes he must retrieve the Blade of Olympus to save himself. As he slowly gets up and limps his way to the sword, Zeus reveals himself as the Eagle that stole his powers, and he betrayed Kratos so that his fate will not be the same as Ares'. Zeus demands him to surrender but when Kratos refused, Zeus then stabs him with the Blade of Olympus into Kratos' stomach, killing him after he refuses to forever serve the Gods and wiping out all the Spartans & Rhodes Soldiers. Kratos is framed for the killing of Argos by an unidentified assassin in an attempt to further fracture his relationship with Olympus. Later, Zeus sends a messenger to put an end to Kratos’s continued destruction. Kratos responds with violence, once again defying the other gods. GOD OF WAR ON PC

Story And Character in 2007". BAFTA Games. British Academy of Film and Television Arts. 2007. Archived from the original on April 2, 2015 . Retrieved March 17, 2015. It’s not simply in the narrative that Kratos and Atreus’ relationship is reflected, it’s in the gameplay and combat too. In Ragnarok, the father and son are partners. Throughout their journey, Atreus’ input is critical. Kratos will require him to shoot a runic arrow at a particularly dense bush concealing a chest, for example, so that the Spartan can then sink his Blades of Chaos into the runic-enhancing purple ring it leaves, burning away the troublesome foliage. Ragnarok wouldn’t have had this effect on me had it not been for how its predecessor painted the relationship between Kratos and Atreus. After journeying to the highest point in the Nine Realms with the pair, I’m absorbed in them, oftentimes recognizing my own teenage frustrations in Atreus, yet being old enough to relate with Kratos’ fears for his son.
