Danny was everything and Skylar, ahh the wah she grew!!! The way she got over all the difficulties and started to trust again. They have a very slow burn friends to lovers progression that is both super cute and heart warming. Both our heroes have scars, but Ivy's are the longest and the scarriest... And Aiden is becoming for once again her strength to pull her out of her misery... I also appreciated that through Danny, the author took time to delve a bit into the issue of sports injuries.

i started getting annoyed at how repetitive it got between ivy and aiden with her pushing him away and him pushing her into confiding in him. it was a lot of pushing and there wasnt really a balance Speaking of the heroine -- the author really poured on the angst and hardships. Beware there are some possible triggers. Self-cutting and a suicide attempt are at the top of the list. This poor girl has been through some rough and tough times in her short life. I was teary-eyed and furious throughout three-fourths of the story. But she shows strength and pushes herself for achieving a much better life. Just when she thinks she's about to drown in the foggy memories of her night spent partying at the football house, Daniel Bridges walks into her life. Lindon University's wide receiver. A total flirt. And a total threat. Ivy was the perfect main character because she symbolizes a very common person in our world today that no one wants to talk about.

Second, there were some actions that Aiden did, that kinda bothered me. Young Aiden was perfect. This 21 year-old Aiden is pushy af. Sometimes I feel like he didn't respect (I'll use this word since it was thrown in the book couple of times) some of the heroine' s decision. The slow burn between these two was amazing. I love this author's flawless writing style, the multi-dimensional characters and the emotional exploration of a complicated situation. It’s something I have to deal with every time she complains about things like her mother refusing to extend her curfew, let her date, or wear certain types of clothing when she’s out. Her nose always crinkles when I say, “I don’t see why you’re so upset. Your mother loves you. That’s why she’s hard on you.”

Plus, after reading the Dare You to Hate Me excerpt of chapter one, I have to admit that I need to know how these two finally come together. Once you devour the first book, you’ll be happy to know that the second, Beg You to Trust Me, is already available as well! About ‘Dare You to Trust Me’ by B. Celeste There’s nothing better than a fun and flirty football player who takes interest in the things you enjoy. Not only is he attentive and respectful but also doesn’t shy away from his feelings. We never had to worry about Danny (DJ) and his true intentions with Skylar which made the “friends with benefits” trope acceptable in my eyes. Typically this trope leaves me questioning what is real and what isn’t but that wasn’t an issue here.Review: I always told myself that I didn’t enjoy the really slow burn romances, but there’s something about the way B. Celeste writes that complete captivates me. I struggled a little with Dare You to Hate Me a few months ago, but when I started reading this one, I couldn't put the book down. And I credit all of that to the presence of DJ Bridges and just how incredible a character he was. If you’ve read the first book, then you’ve already met and fallen in love with DJ, but nothing will prepare you for the moment you meet him in his own book. I freaking love this author!!! Her quirky sense of humour and the way she spins her tales is just so addictive to me! Aiden and Ivy's story was just like that too. You could feel the emotions and everything these two felt. Thus I relieve thee, my creator," he said, and placed his hated hands before my eyes, which I flung from me with violence; "thus I take from thee a sight which you abhor. Still thou canst listen to me and grant me thy compassion. By the virtues that I once possessed, I demand this from you. Hear my tale; it is long and strange, and the temperature of this place is not fitting to your fine sensations; come to the hut upon the mountain. The sun is yet high in the heavens; before it descends to hide itself behind your snowy precipices and illuminate another world, you will have heard my story and can decide. On you it rests, whether I quit for ever the neighbourhood of man and lead a harmless life, or become the scourge of your fellow creatures and the author of your own speedy ruin." The star of this book for me was definitely Danny aka DJ. I loved his character, his friendship efforts with Sky, his text exchanges with his awesome grandma and also how he tries to push Sky to seek help.
