It doesn’t feel heavy, but it does feel very moisturizing, and doesn’t absorb as fast as other very watery products I’ve used. If the bolded words were obvious enough, you should have come across the ingredient listed as “placenta extract. I just got a sample of this to try but I wish it was a bigger sample so I had enough to try for a good 4-5 days! At scale, these small differences in product size and weight lead to significant carbon emission reductions. After many many years of producing sake for consumption, they have released their very own range of cosmetics that are mainly produced using dry rice wine.

To use, pump a little puddle in your hand (although, as I’ll get into, that’s easier said than done). The lightness of the emulsion makes it perfect for summer, as it feels so light, unrestrictive and isn't greasy at all. This product is perfect for when you want multiple light layers of hydration as it plays nicely with everything you put on top of it. This product would go after cleansing and pH-dependent actives (like AHAs, BHAs, and vitamin C), but before essences, serums, and creams.Rice contains amino acid and essential mineral, consolidate the skin protection fence, bring a healthy skin from inside out. Rice ferment filtrate (sake) contains kojic acid which is responsible for skin-lightening and is also a great source of antioxidants. The lotion is essentially a toner, and I've found that with Japanese beauty products like this, and with Korean ones too, people don't necessarily use a cotton pad to apply them.

If you have the patience to deal with the pump, don’t mind the smell of sake before breakfast, and don’t react to any of the ingredients, this could actually be a really wonderful product for you. Placenta might have some anti-aging and moisturizing benefits (and is often derived from plants, cutting down on the ick factor, although I don’t know how Kiku-Masamune sources theirs).Kiku-Masamune High Moist Lotion reminds me of a 30 Rock quote (if you don’t want 30 Rock quotes with your skincare, you’ve come to the wrong blog): Liz Lemon’s doctor asks her if she’s eating right, and Liz responds “No, but I am eating a lot. Out of the dozens and dozens of skincare products I’ve used, exactly three have broken me out: Mizon Snail Recovery Gel, Mizon All-In-One Snail Repair Cream (I don’t fuck with Mizon anymore), and Missha’s FTE. it Removes whatever residue is still on my face after my 3 step cleansing ritual, but does so in a very gentle and nourishing way.

In Japan, horse racing is big, hence the reason they have a high market for horse breeding which even cosmetic industries such as Kikumasamune partake in. Kiku-Masamune High Moist Lotion is a Japanese sake-based hydrating toner that I’ve heard only good things about. Open straight from the fridge to enjoyed a rounded fruity taste or warm to 40C to open the classical rich Junmai notes. The one in the white bottle is more lightweight feeling and it feels like it just sinks directly into my skin. It's also said to have anti-ageing properties, with the secret 'sake by-product' ingredient having been discovered when the hands of workers at a sake brewery looked much younger than the rest of their bodies (they had often had their hands inside vats of sake). One product I have constantly heard about on the Reddit community was the Kikumasamune High Moist Lotion. Just like the lotion, it does have a quirky little whiff of sake, but after a few moments, it's gone.
