Als ich das erste Mal über „Stella und der Mondscheinvogel“ stolperte, wusste ich sofort: Das Buch muss ich lesen! The servants refuse to talk about the family, especially the boy and it’s up to Seren to figure things out. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. There is humour as well as excitement in this excellent story of a brave and resourceful heroine who surprises even her mentor, the Crow, and we can look forward to finding out what happens next.

Even through The Clockwork Crowis a relatively short book, it’s still a book that would appeal to readers who enjoy long books. Characters not particularly exciting (my favourite, panicked thin man, is there early and late and that's about it). Seren can picture it all: Captain Jones would be mustached, tall and imposing, and Lady Mair is sure to be lovely and kind.

I thought the clockwork crow, the family and the general magic throughout the book to be different to what I’ve read before. UPDATE - I read the second and third books in the trilogy, they were every bit as good if not even better than the first. They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! Childrens historical fiction which is accessible to all ages, beautifully written and a real page turner.
