In 2019 as part of The Later Years boxset, the P·U·L·S·E video received again a quality upgrade (as much as the tapes allowed) for its first release in BD. The new edit of the concert is a great improvement too. Cuts are now slightly more frequent and many new camera angles have been introduced. All in all, a much more involving visual presentation compared to the old Laserdisc/VHS releases.

The Pulse DVD vividly captures the essence of Pink Floyd, both as a live band and as a visual tour de force, qualities that were both well to the fore at their show-stopping appearance at this year’s Live 8.In HH, the PPV also uses a different camera angle when Gilmour leaves the microphone and sits on the lap guitar just after the lyrics end. While this is clearly seen in the OLB, the PPV uses several wide shots from other angles only focusing on Gilmour already sitting after a while. [ permanent dead link] minute and 16 seconds during the final solo of Comfortably Numb were deleted from this release to cut some not-so-perfectly-played bars.

Early CD versions came with a flashing red LED on the side of the case. This was designed by EMI contractor Jon Kempner, who was awarded the platinum disc, using the now discontinued LM3909 LED flasher IC. The circuit was powered by a single AA battery; the battery life was stated to be over six months. Some versions were also made with two AA batteries and later editions of the CD set did not feature the blinking LED. During the final solo of Sorrow, 40 seconds were removed. The rest of the audio seems to be the same, only a few bars were cut. If they haven’t been met then, well, a fuss should be made. I expect we’ll have to turn out in Hyde Park again in a few months time if they don’t do something.” Its out in February 2022 and the Animals release, that is very eagerly anticipated, should be out in June 2022. Comfortably Numb is essentially the same long version as in the OLB, except the PPV replaces a very short shot of Gilmour of a camera from behind him (present in the OLB) with a wide arena shot showing the mirror ball. This is just around 5 seconds or so.The intro to HH had a very long close-up of the bell tolling in the OLB. In the PPV this was interspersed with wide shots showing the full stage. What a great find. A fantastic little collection of films, many seldom seen! Here’s the list. After Eclipse, while Gilmour thanks Roger, the audio is the same. But the 1995 release uses a shot from behind the stage; and curiously enough this shot is footage from a few seconds later when the band raises their hands and waves goodbye. Given Roger Waters had left the band by this point, David Gilmour was the lead vocalist for almost every song on the album.
