Seriously disappointed in the message this book sends to young children - do a lot of superficial, selfish tasks, and you’ll feel better about everyone else’s bad behavior. When Pete is not working on books he is helping to uplift many of the most successful animated franchises as a character designer, concept artist, and production designer. This book teaches kids that you don't always have to be perfect, but doesn't teach them that they don't have to put up with being bullied and taking loads of shit from their "friends".I guess my take on it is a lot different from a lot of the other readers who feel the message is about not worrying about others' bad behaviors and not trying to "fix" everyone around you. The Good Egg is a delightful romp for preschoolers and even older kids, who will love Pete Oswald's rich illustrations and Jory John's wise story. But this time he's just going to sit there and take their shit with a smile on his face and not worry so much about it because it's better than living alone.
