Another run of performances took place at the Ambassadors Theatre in London in 2018, following a UK tour. But more imagination has gone into the tricky set than into the plot, and despite some stabs at realistic horror, helmer Ken Russell can’t quite stop himself from tipping the whole thing into farce.

CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAGH liked the play describing it as an "Highly entertaining schlock-horror show. It delves into the darkest psyche of the human condition of sociopaths and their dissociative behaviour. In the end, Styler is forced to believe he is Easterman, however it is never explicitly revealed to the audience who is actually who. A prominent author of novels and "true crime"stories enters a secluded mental institution to interview a serial killer who has been confined there for thirty years. I read it in one sitting and I normally never do this haha because of my crappy attention span, so this says a lot about this book.

The story line itself very soon becomes a conundrum, which twists and turns into a surprising denouement while messing with your mind. Recently revived in 2016 as part of the Theatre Royal Nottingham’s thriller season, Mindgame later embarked on a limited national tour. Mindgame premiered at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester on 2 September 1999, before transferring to the Vaudeville Theatre in London's West End in 2000. But as I grew older (and my original audience entered their twenties) I felt a need to move into adult writing. After cutting my teeth on the hugely popular show, Robin of Sherwood, I moved on to work with David Suchet and his brilliant portrayal of Hercule Poirot, writing about nine or ten episodes of Agatha Christie's Poirot. When Easterman and Styler begin to talk, it turns out the two men used to be neighbours, and Styler admired Easterman, perhaps even loved him. I’m watching Anthony Horowitz dark psychological thriller play “Mindgame” that has come to the West End at the Ambassador theatre for three weeks only, after a successful UK tour. It introduces a detective by the name of Daniel Hawthorne - a rather dark and dangerous man whom I actually met on the set of Injustice. This is a fabulous peice of writting, but having performed this play in 2007, I have to say that the more you read it, the more of what Horowitz intended for you to see is revealled. This began with two Sherlock Holmes continuation novels, The House of Silk and Moriarty, followed by my entry into the world of James Bond with Trigger Mortis.

This dark comedy was the perfect antidote for me personally after beginning and discarding five books in a row (maybe more).Playing a strictly limited season at the West End’s Ambassadors Theatre, the production runs for a strictly limited season, from May 15th to June 2nd 2018. Anthony Horowitz is best known for such television programmes as Poirot, Murder Most Horrid, and Midsomer Murders - for wich he has written many episodes. Arriving at a hospital for the criminally insane, Styler prepares to speak to murderer Easterman, but ends up clashing with Dr Farquhar about how the interview will take place.
