The Darling Buds of May is a lightning read – weighing in at a tiny 137p. I read it for an online book club that I’ve recently just joined and I have to say, it was not what I was expecting at all. I knew there was a TV adaptation some years ago, although I’ve never seen it. Picnic baskets, strawberries, whole legs of roasted pork, huge bacon and egg breakfasts, this book is capable of setting off deep cravings you didn’t know existed! I watched the BBC TV series of 'The Darling Buds Of May', long before I read the book, but I was captivated by the characters and the Actors & Actresses who brought them to life, and now having read the book I can truly say the casting was right on target.
