Description

National Book Award winner and national treasure Jacqueline Woodson teams up with two-time Pura Belpré Award recipient Rafael López to deliver an empowering message to any child who has ever felt too different. Petra Velzeboer is a renowned mental health expert, speaker and CEO of PVL, a mental health consultancy. Begin With You is a must-read for virtually anyone: whether you are wanting to build a mental health strategy, are an entrepreneur or business owner, or are just interested in practical steps to improve your own mental health.

A must-have book about the power of one’s voice and the friendships that emerge when you are yourself. Full-bleed illustrations on every page are thick with collaged patterns and textures that pair perfectly with melodic prose that begs to be read aloud. And that sometimes, when we reach out and begin to share our stories, others will be happy to meet us halfway. Petra's keynotes are uplifting, moving, funny and challenge audiences to cultivate mentally healthy cultures that promote innovation and sustainable performance for the future of work.Writing style, again this may be personal taste but rarely a paragraph goes by without multiple exclamation points being used; this is something that personally grates on me.

If the breach is severe enough or if the invading organism is toxic or hostile, the host organism can die. The day after we have posted your mail, it usually takes three more days to reach Western Europe, five days to Eastern Europe and seven days to the rest of the world. Amoebae, orange trees, frogs, leopards, bacteria, tulips, turtles, salmon—all have physical limits that delineate them as unique from other organisms.

The biggest mystery in this process are books with blah cover art, a short, vague title, and no clue whether it is a memoir or a novel. An interesting read but more beneficial for individuals who have responsibility at workplaces to put ideas into practice. In the chaotic years that follow Cessie lurches from one apartment, job and toxic romance to the next, with her adoring daughter in tow. Like Woodson’s memoir Brown Girl Dreaming, this story places great value on literacy, reading, and imagination.

Petra has been through quite the childhood and I was really interested in her point of view on trauma and the workplace. I was expecting a practical guide to being able to harnessing my wellbeing and mental health at work. She had grown up in a cult which she had left and then described her life afterwards which had not been easy. Indeed, a lot of talk of mental health in organisations seems to be about managing crisis, harm prevention, etc. Were it not so, when we sat down, we’d pass right through the chair (and the chair through us) and be sprawled on the floor.

By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Shifting hues and textures across the page convey their deep loneliness and then slowly transition into bright hopeful possibilities. The author also liberally sprinkled the text with exclamation marks which after a while began to grate somewhat as I felt that they were unnecessary.

I should also point out that there should be some prominent trigger warnings placed at the beginning of this book, particular around religious trauma; if this is something you find triggering there is quite detailed reference made to this topic. Maybe it’s how you look or talk, or where you’re from; maybe it’s what you eat, or something just as random.
