Anae gives Dare a task to make Aubrey fall in love with him, but that task involves a lot more than just that. No matter the challenging circumstances and regardless of dire needs (begging to be satisfied), this guy seems to have surrendered his whole life to the cause of keeping his word. I could detail what your life would look like if you ever cheated on me, how I would cut you out of the life you’re living and transform my love into the metal bars that form your new home.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d think he really likes it because rather than ease up and see if I’m okay, he shoves into me harder. So early access is only on Vella, but if you want to read it and you’re not a Vella reader, no worries.I desire Sophie Bradwell, and I don’t care how many terrible things I have to do to get her… and keep her. She makes this book so much more palatable because she's genuinely in Aubrey's corner, even though she has her own demons to deal with (considering Anae's her stepsister😒). I think a need a psychological evaluation, because every rational part of my being says I should not be so in love (or turned on) by this man’s antics.

I didn’t get a great feel for the characters, Aubrey was a hard working girl, determined to do everything and anything she could to help her mum with her battle against cancer, since her dad walked out.For anyone familiar with the movie Cruel Intentions, the beginning of this book definitely gave off some serious Cruel Intentions vibes, but it didn’t take long for Even If It Hurts to take on a flavor all of its own. At school, I could make sure we weren’t in the same classes and turn the other way if I saw him in the halls, but avoiding him gets a lot harder when I’m living in his seaside mansion. I told you Hannah would only be in danger if you left me, and you weren’t thinking about doing that, were you? See the opening author's note for more explicit triggers, but know this is a very dangerous relationship with a very dark hero. I love these end-of-year wrap-ups because they give you a chance to pause and really look at all you’ve accomplished in a given year.
