I love the way Fitzek uses gore and crudeness in a way that adds to the story, rather than purely for shock value. Margie/Pamela helps her kid murder all of these people over the span of ELEVEN years and then just casually gives it all up just because her son died? Even before the big reveal, when Brooke thought Shane and Tim were in on the original murders together, it gave a strong original Scream vibe (Billy and Stu).

After the failed attempt, it is time to remove Linda from prison and do some maneuvers to avoid being discovered. Encouraged by her babysitter, Margie, Brooke finds herself thinking of Tim as a potential romantic partner. She believed Brandon committed this horrendous crime of 10 yrs ago and was the one who tried to kill her too. The characters were strong and compelling and the POV dipped into minor characters and back to the main character with ease. Shane was Brooke’s high school sweetheart, who is now spending the rest of his life in prison for a series of horrific murders. This is a merciless thriller about a man who infiltrates a maximum-security psychiatric prison to find out the fate of his kidnapped son; a man who has nothing to lose, diving deep into the dark side of the human mind.

Brooke, her best friend Chelsea, and a girl named Kayla, drove Tim to Shane’s farmhouse on a night when Shane’s mother was out of town. But that killer is not the only psycho there, so Till has to put up with another inmate who wants to kill the guy whose cover identity he took, as well as a doctor who wants him out of the way for reasons of his own. For those of you who don't like a strong scent, then you'll be pleased with the light scent of this product.

I’ve seen a lot of reviews for this one that say this is one of the weaker entries in McFadden’s catalogue, so I will likely be picking up another one and hoping for the best the next time I’m in the mood for popcorn. There's no WAY Brooke simply recanting her testimony gets this man out of prison TEN YEARS after conviction?Side note: seriously, no one noticed or commented on the fact that Brooke was letting the mother of the man she sent to prison for attempting to murder her babysit her child. I will say that Brooke is *consistently* stupid, which might sound like a complaint but actually I appreciated the fact that it seemed like a true character trait. Nobody knows about her intimate connection to Shane Nelson, one of the penitentiary's most notorious and dangerous inmates. Wednesday Final Ratings: Athletics-Yankees American League Wild Card Game Helps TBS Top Prime Time in All Key Adult and Male Demos". But both mothers managed to change their appearances enough to successfully pull off altering their identities to get close to the main characters years later (nanny here versus a reporter in Scream 2).The plan was always to kill Brooke because Pamela had an affair with Brooke’s father, but he wouldn’t leave Brooke and her mother, staying together for Brooke’s sake. In so many of these books we have characters who are portrayed as otherwise clever or competent, but who make dumb decisions simply to help the plot along. The only way of finding the truth was to get into the mental asylum and get the truth out of Tramnitz, but Till did not know what he was getting into. And rather than just kill the daughters (Brooke and Sidney), they go ahead and up the body count because hey, why not? The book begins with Brooke Sullivan starting her new job as a nurse practitioner in a maximum security prison.
