I'm looking for a 3 season 2 person tent, external poles, compact and low and quite sturdy (want to occasionally use it as a 4 season tent too) but not too heavy (max 3 kg). I'm particularly oriented towards semi-geodesic structures, which I expect to have a better wind resistance. I already have a 1.3 Kg Camp Minima 2 SL as a light option. What would have been appropriate would have been to take the Helvellyn 200 up Helvellyn. But that’s what you’d expect us to do, so we took it on a trip to the Yorkshire Dales over the August bank holiday weekend instead. The design of the tent goes from wide to narrow, streamlining the tent but also making it smaller at the lower end. When pitched the full dimensions are 270cm x 174 cm.However, the sleeping compartment is (at the widest) 227 cm x 120 cm). Uhm, that is true, but you read the width at the feet, which is probably not so important... here is how I have summerized things considering the inner width at the widest point:

As an entry-level hiking tent, the Helvellyn 200 is an option to take seriously. Hikers who only venture out for overnight excursions in the summer months should look for something lighter such as the Wild Country Zephyros Compact 2. But for three-season use, the Helvellyn 200 is an impressive tent for the price. Price and competition

I can see a 200g weight difference... is it due to the absence of the porch footprint in the Helvellyn compared to the Hydra or the former is actually lighter? Structurally the tent is solid. The three poles create a strong structure and I tested this in very windy conditions.
