Description

Change the nose direction of your helicopter. So far, all of the precautionary steps, and basic maneuvers have assumed that your helicopter is facing directionally forward in relation to your reference point. This however needs to change, particularly when you will have to fly around tight spots, corners, and/or obstacles. Like normal, turn your helicopter on, lift your helicopter up three feet, and stabilize the the thrust power. [14] X Research source [15] X Research source Get used to the helicopter's controls. Start your helicopter up again, and allow it to hover/skid on the starting position (reference point). Once the helicopter is stabilized at the reference point, you can slowly increase the throttle forward. Your helicopter should move forwards about 10 feet, before you slowly decrease the forward command. [8] X Research source [9] X Research source As your helicopter moves right, change the directional control of your thruster so that the nose is facing right. Allow your helicopter to hover rightward for 15-20 feet before you slow down the power and stabilize the copter. Then turn the direction of your thruster leftward bound so that the nose is facing leftward. The rudder is a vertical flap on the tail of the plane which is used to control the plane’s “yaw” or left/right turning; just like the rudder on a ship. You should never go into the process of selecting an RC plane without some idea of what you’re looking for. To that end here are a few things to look for when buying a remote control aircraft.

Are the instructions clear? Does the plane glide smoothly? Are there too many buttons on the remote? These are all things that affect the plane’s ease of use. The Sky King is an excellent aircraft for both the beginner and the more experienced pilot, and comes with all the features expected of more expensive machines. Its impact resistant EPO construction can soak up minor bumps and its predictable flight characteristics make it easy to fly and land. The aircraft uses 2.4 Ghz technology and has beginner and experienced mode, its 7.4 volt coreless motor produces a smooth powerband, enhancing its flight envelope. The controller features trim switches to ensure perfectly level flight and a battery warning system is incorporated. Flight time in normal usage is approximately 10 minutes, with a charging time of 90 minutes. Two batteries are provided to offset the charging cycle. A great all rounder regardless of the pilot’s skill level and is ready to fly, out of the box.Depending on your experience and where you’re planning on flying your RC plane will determine how important the range is. Within a horizontal distance of 30m of assemblies of people. (Assemblies of people are gatherings where persons are unable to move away due to the density of the people present). Channels – Each distinct operation that is controllable on an RC plane is called a “channel”. 2 channel control is defined as throttle control plus rudder control. 3 channel control will entail throttle control along with elevators and ailerons or rudder, though not both. 4 channels control will have typical 3 channel control except it will include both aileron and rudder control. The typical hobby RC plane has either 2, 3 or 4 channel control. Finally, at the top end of the scale are the fast and furious RC jets. These are seriously powerful, gas-fueled planes. They are designed to be flown in large areas and you may be limited on where you can fly them. These are seriously fast and often very durable. They’re not suitable for beginners and can be dangerous in the wrong hands. DesignWhen the remote pilot has identified an area (the ‘flight volume’) within which they believe the aircraft will remain. The BMFA must assess each application and only issue a Permit when satisfied that it is ‘safe and appropriate’ and organised in accordance with BMFA guidelines.

Aircraft with an MTOM of less than 250g operated in a manner that uses the privileges within this authorisation (for example, flown above 400ft), do not require an registered Operator, but they are subject to the Remote Pilot competency requirements described within this authorisation. However, in many circumstances they may be easily operated within the Open Category requirements (for an unmanned aircraft with a MTOM less than 250g) as the requirements are not particularly restrictive for these very light aircraft. Our Authorisation stipulates that model aircraft (other than free flight aircraft) between 250g and 7.5Kg cannot be operated:

Our Authorisation includes the requirement to report certain accidents, serious incidents and other occurrences. This was an existing requirement and is referred to in the current BMFA Members Handbook. However, the CAA are wanting to reinforce the requirements (full details can be found in CAP 722). Regardless of whether you are very experienced at flying remote control planes or not, if the plane is hard to control, it will ruin your flying experience. Sometimes the most simple models are the easiest to control, especially if you are a beginner.

There is a requirement on the BMFA to ensure, as far as is reasonably possible, that all members who operate within the authorisation have read and understood the terms of our Authorisation if they wish to operate within it, any member choosing to operate within of our authorisation should make this declaration. There are 3 options to make the declaration. The new regulations allow for alternative sets of rules to be applied to unmanned aircraft. The 'Open Category' rules set out in CAP722 can be used by anyone in the UK, regardless of whether they are members of any club or association and, amongst other things, include a ban on flying above 400ft. The Open Category requirements will not apply to BMFA members flying in accordance with the terms and conditions of our Article 16 Authorisation. The BMFA is required to retain records detailing all applications and decisions for CAA audit purposes. Begin your normal steps of turning your copter on in an open field, raising it up, and stabilizing it. This time however, you are going to raise it even higher to about 10 feet off of the ground before you stabilize your copter. Our Authorisation stipulates that model aircraft with an MTOM between 7.5Kg and 25Kg cannot be operated: Another consideration is battery life and flight time. Most models come with two rechargeable batteries, and each will give you roughly 10 minutes of airtime or less—even those on the high end. The remote control's range is also important, and transmission distance is typically 300 feet or more. Some planes have a built-in camera to capture footage in real time, or space in the fuselage to install your own. Extras like working LED lights and add-ons such as floats for water landings make the flying experience more realistic.
