For anyone that has read this authors books before, you know that you fall into the storyline hook line and sinker, and that you just keep reading. Usually, this would be a positive for me as I prefer to be shocked than for a story to go down the obvious route, but I did feel slightly let down when a new twist came into play. I appreciated how the theme of obsession was used throughout, but I just wanted to see more from a certain character. Back in the present, Cleo finds herself under police scrutiny as murders start to occur that mimic the way Cleo crafted deaths for her Baking Detective series. Hanging out with her best friend Trina and trying to persuade geeky Heath that she doesn’t fancy him.

As the reader gets to know more about modern-day Cleo, we are also taken back twenty-five years to when Cleo was a university student. I had high hopes for this book after seeing all the rave reviews but ultimately it fell flat for me very early one. So I loved that some months back, she invited me to her proof party with a tissue-wrapped gift copy of the proof, a nice packet of coffee and Maltesers. With shocking twists and an emotional, but satisfying conclusion, this is an expertly-crafted, rollercoaster of a novel that had me gripped from the beginning' Jendella Benson 'Dorothy Koomson is on formidable form .But now she has decided to walk away from it all - including divorcing her husband, Wallace - before her past secrets catch up with her. I really enjoyed this book, maybe it was the different perspectives and the forced breaks in between which added to the reading experience.

The ending hammers home with short sharp shocking chapters until I was finally able to take a huge intake of breath. I have to admit the start of the book is confusing, you’re thinking how it’s going to play out but also what’s going to happen. We then go further back in time to 1996 to her days as a student at Leeds University where she becomes best friends with Trina. In My Other Husband, Dorothy captures the cute awkwardness of a university romance and puts it up against mature endearing marital love. There’s a lot of character build up and scene setting at the start so it did take me a while to understand where the story was going, but I found Cleo such an original and intriguing character that I was absolutely hooked by her story.
