The Shade paint range has also taken advantage of improvements in paint technology, using technology from the latest Contrast range, into our Shade paint range. Making this new and improved reformulation of shade paints the best Shade Paints we’ve ever made. The new Shade paints do exactly what they did before, but better.

Hexwraith Flame can be used with adjacent or analogous colors on the color wheel to get a striking color combination. The following three Citadel Color paints can be combined with Hexwraith Flame: So, this color scheme is not difficult and doesn’t pretend for the Golden Demon. But it looks nice and lets you paint the entire army in no time at all. In our How to Paint Everything series, we take a look at different armies of the Warhammer universes, examine their history and heraldry, and look at several different methods for painting them. This week we’re looking at how to paint Drazhar, the Master of Blades. Who is Drazhar? As mentioned above, a glaze will alter a color. So, why not just paint it the way you want it to begin with? The added bonus of a glaze is that it also helps with blending. In the example above with the red, the red glaze I applied helped blend those layers and highlights together as well. Another reason glazing is great. Examples of Glazing Miniatures That’s all there is to glazing. I’m sure I could write more and bore you all to death, but that’s the basics of it. Cadian Fleshtone: As a flesh-tone paint, Cadian Fleshtone can be used to create a strong contrast with the spectral green of Hexwraith Flame. This is a split-complementary color pairing, where the brown tones of Cadian Fleshtone complement the green while providing a distinct contrast to the cool spectral hues. The last classic Chaos Space Marine to step out of the Eye of Terror is the Aspiring Champion miniature. Festooned with abhorrent details and wielding two cruel blades, he’s ready to slaughter foes in the name of whichever Ruinous Power you pledge allegiance to. Retributor Armour: As a metallic gold paint, Retributor Armour would complement the spectral, shimmering quality of Hexwraith Flame. This color combo is a classic complementary color pairing, with the gold acting as a highlight to the ghostly, ethereal green of the Hexwraith Flame.

I’m using Hexwraiths to showcase the process as I didn’t take pictures when I was working on the actual models in Soul Wars. Fast forward to the Age of Sigmar: Soul Wars release and the Nighthaunt army. To make for ease of painting, and to allow greater variety for those drawn to the spectral Nighthaunt, Games Workshop released two more paints like Nihilakh Oxide, this time geared primarily as ghost paints. Rhinox Hide: As a rich brown paint, Rhinox Hide can be used to create depth and shadows when paired with Hexwraith Flame. This is an analogous color pairing, where the two colors are adjacent on the color wheel. Rhinox Hide can be used to darken the Hexwraith Flame, create shading, and balance out the bright, ghostly green. Chaos Daemons: The striking, shimmering color of Hexwraith Flame could be a great fit for the otherworldly Chaos Daemons of the Warhammer 40K universe. It would look great on the armor, weapons, and machinery of their daemonic hordes, and could add a creepy, haunting quality to their infantry and war engines. Let me just start by saying I’m not GentleBen. I’m not a Golden Daemon Winner and I honestly have no desire to be. I just want to get my models painted to a standard that I’m happy with when I put them on the table. Will I win any painting awards with this technique? No – but my army is done, I painted it (not anyone else), and I’m happy with the results. And for all you competitive players out there this SHOULD qualify you for most the paint points if you can earn them.

Nighthaunt heroes

Cover the model’s primed figure in Nihilakh Oxide. This stuff is pretty thin and runny – treat it kind of like a wash or shade. I didn’t add water (don’t tell Duncan). I went right from the pot to the model and apply it pretty sloppily. Hey – I said I was lazy didn’t I?! Also, Wait for the model to completely dry. If you have ever considered painting white on your model ever, get yourself some Apothecary White. It will make your life so easy. This is where I diverged from Duncan’s tips. Why? Because I wanted to do my own thing and this stuff is like magic. It’s a “Dry” paint so it looks very funky. That’s because it’s intended to be used with dry brushing. You’re going to want to hit the entire model with this step. This is also the step you’re going to really be able to tell if you clean the models well or not. Dry brushing will showcase all your mould lines and if you did a crappy job, you’re about to find out… The beloved Citadel Shade range has been reformulated to flow better into the recesses of your miniatures, leaving less pigment on raised areas and making painting faster and easier. In addition, seven new colours are being added to the Shade range. White Scar Spray

Also, I don’t own an airbrush. I used a nice fat Shade Brush and a Dry Brush. Some people really like airbrushes – I think they are great for certain things but I don’t know how to use one and don’t plan on learning anytime soon. So this is all brushing, all the time. /otherrant The majority of the great range stays the same, making now the ideal time to invest in the best range for your store offer, indeed we have a number of offers available over the launch to help you ensure you can get the right range for your store. Citadel Colour’s Hexwraith Flame is an otherworldly paint that shimmers like a ghostly apparition. This acrylic paint is specially designed as a base coat for miniatures, with a translucent, yet vivid colour that evokes the eerie glow of a haunted flame. Hexwraith Flame is formulated with high-quality pigments that provide a solid foundation of coverage, making it an excellent choice for beginners or anyone seeking a versatile and unique addition to their miniature painting palette. With a smooth, matt finish, Hexwraith Flame is a must-have colour for those looking to add some spectral intrigue to their models. What armies to paint with Hexwraith Flame Paint the Hexfires– Many of the models have extra “flame” bits. Clean those up with some white paint and then re-shade them with the new Hexwraith Flame.

Nighthaunt processions

Hexwraith Flame is a unique and versatile color that can be used to paint various Warhammer 40K armies, creating striking visual effects on their armor, machinery, and weaponry. Here are three possible armies that could benefit from a coat of Hexwraith Flame: The great part of a glaze is that it’s a very translucent paint, meaning you can see the previous layer through it. So, you can make subtle changes to something. There’s also some room to play with the color of your undercoat. Anything darker than a light yellow or green probably won’t fly, but there’s some potential for cool effects with layering Hexwraith Flame over those colors. Nighthaunt Gloom might be a bigger ask, as the darker shade seems to rely on more pigment than either Nihilakh Oxide or Hexwraith Flame, meaning you won’t get the same effect. The new era of painting is nearly here! All 25 new Contrast paints, the seven new Shades and the rest of the reformulated Shade range, plus the smooth, bright new Corax White Spray are all just one week away!

Dip your brush into the glaze to load it into the bristles. You don’t want too much because you don’t want pooling. So after getting frustrated with this I finally decided to come here and ask for some advise. I've had a few units of spirit hosts and hexwraiths laying around not painted pretty much because the last time I tried painting them was when I just started like a year ago so ago so they turned out horribly. They've since been stripped and sat on a shelf and I've improved while working on 40k stuff. I like using Lahmian Medium from Citadel as my medium. It’s cheap, easy to find, and works very well. The Emerald Host have been gathered to do the bidding of the Nighthaunt’s Mortarch, Lady Olynder. On her behalf they carry out the Emerald Curse and inflict terrible mortal wounds on the enemy. In practice, this means you can choose D3+1 enemy units on the battlefield, and you deal D3 mortal wounds to each of them at the end of each battle round if you roll a 2+ for that unit. This is particularly punishing for armies with high armour saves and no Ward saves – Kharadron Overlords, we’re looking at you.
