He says it's possible that either a bulb has burned out, or the brake light pedal switch has gone bad. Your controller will have done enough heat cycles by now for this to be a likely occurance - see if you can borrow another as fitting a replacement is dead easy. If you put the key down, once it's been stationary for a little while it stops 'talking' and the red tell-tale stops blinking.

The brake light switch is like two in one, part does the lights and part does the ecu so it could be that.
