Description

There have been some amazing outfits spotted across the city, with some opting to represent their country taking inspiration from their native flags, while others gave a nod to their favourite Eurovision acts of the past and present. The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be a truly special event and the creative look is a big part of creating that magic. This year’s identity sums up perfectly the amazing partnerships across the Contest and more importantly the power of music to bring people together across the world.”

Then the public votes are added to each song in turn, starting with the song lying in 26th place. Songs can get up to 12 points from each country, and this year there is an additional set of points from “the rest of the world”, as the contest is open to anybody to vote. So songs popular with the public can literally add hundreds of points to their tally at a stroke, regardless of where the juries placed them. Our Culture Liverpool team was flooded with requests from people who were desperate to have a memento of their time in Liverpool and wanted to get their hands on the incredible branding we had produced as a host city. Taking to the stage for the first semi final, one of Eurovision's official hosts for 2023, Julia Sanina, will be performing Маяк, a single she originally released with her band The Hardkiss in her native Ukraine.Whether you're inspired to throw your very own party to celebrate the Grand Final of Europe's world-famous song contest or are following the whole event, make sure you're ready for the musical marathon with our huge selection of themed Eurovision Party Supplies, fancy dress accessories, decorations, balloons, tableware and even an exclusive Eurovision contest score sheet. Dress yourself and your venue with plenty of glitz, glam and sparkle for the international entertainment event of the year! As we're now at the mid-week point of Eurovision 2023, here are 65 stand-out photos showing all the Eurovision fun we've spotted in the city so far.

It’s a thrill to know that such a diverse group of talented musicians will be performing on my stage. I’ve had a long history of being a fan of the show and as a young adult, I used to take notice of the impressive stage designs. Performing in the Grand Final will be all the acts who successfully made it through their respective Semi-Finals along with the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy who make up the Big Five. Joining them will be last year’s winner Ukraine who also automatically qualify. The merchandise has been made by Banner Bags which specialises in helping organisations upcycle marketing assets. Next year’s competition promises to be an extra special one and we’re working hard with the BBC right now to ensure that hundreds of millions of viewers will enjoy the best Eurovision Song Contest yet, with Ukraine at the heart of the event.’ The generic Eurovision logo was originally designed by the London-based agency JM Enternational in 2004 and was updated in 2015 by Storytegic. The shows served as a reminder of Europe's solidarity with Ukraine, culminating in an emotional rendition of the classic song You'll Never Walk Alone. Get ready to mark your Eurovision bingo cards! Of course, if you want to have a shot of drink each time you spot one of these things, you are welcome, but drinking is not compulsory. Some people – Terry Wogan chiefly – advised leaving off the booze until later in the show. You can just shout “Poe! Poe! Poe! Poe!” instead, or whatever you fancy. Here is what I have got on my list: Big hats. Ludicrous costumes. An ornate stage set. Specially composed music. Lots of people waving flags. Yes, that was me live blogging the coronation last Saturday. But tonight it really is the jewel in the crown of the music calendar – the grand final of the Eurovision song contest. This year it is coming to you from Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine and, in the specific case of this live blog, from Walthamstow.

Whether you're inspired to throw your very own party to celebrate the Grand Final of Europe's wor...The first group of countries who will compete for a place in Saturday’s Grand Final are: Azerbaijan, Croatia, Czechia, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Malta, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland. The Semi-Final Allocation Draw and Host City Insignia will take place on 31 January at 7 pm (GMT) at St George’s Hall. The hosts - British television presenter AJ Odudu and TV personality Rylan - will receive help from pupils of a local Liverpool school and Ukrainians in the city, who have come to the country due to the ongoing conflict.

Eurovision 2022 winners Kalush Orchestra say: “We've been looking forward to performing in Liverpool ever since it was announced as host last year. The city has a world-renowned musical heritage and we're delighted to finally be able to announce what an honour it will be for us to be there. The First Semi-Final will open with host Julia Sanina performing part of Маяк by her band The Hardkiss, while the interval offers global superstar Rita Ora delivering a show-stopping medley of some of her biggest hits (and brand-new single Praising You). We are thrilled to create the 67th Eurovision Song Contest visual identity in partnership with Ukrainian agency, Starlight, and the BBC. For this year’s theme, United By Music, our solution was inspired by research showing that when experiencing live music together, human hearts synchronise to beat in unison. This insight led to the creative concept of 160 million hearts beating as one, an idea that captures the universal spirit of Eurovision.” Liverpool has produced some of the world’s most famous and beloved songs in history: these Eurovision legends will all put their own spin on some classic hits. For the first interval performance, the United Kingdom’s very own spaceman Sam Ryder will return to the Eurovision stage, before being followed by "The Liverpool Songbook"; a celebration of the Host City’s incredible contribution to the world of pop music.Global superstar Rita Ora, Ukrainian singer Alyosha and Liverpool’s very own critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter, Rebecca Ferguson will all perform at the interval.
