About this deal

what made me think about this was seeing darts available for modern air rifles and then finding pictures and information about an antique Oscar Will Bugelspanner air rifle that used darts. My advice for everyone else shooting darts with a Colt CO2 revolver is to shoot at distances of 15 feet or greater. Other Harrington products included the 'Ding Dong' slingshot and the 'Little Kraka' fishing reel, both using similar die-cast construction. Don’t think you could make a 30g arrow with conventional materials… the points alone are 100 to 145g. It’s a little easier for an adult, because you are pushing both hands together which is a powerful move for an adult.

Shooting “arrows” out of my Crosman 101 was an extension of my experiments to shoot little “harpoons” for collecting frogs-legs. I was told by an English guy that most English boys grow up with Gats like American boys grow up with BB Rifles.

For today’s report I oiled the Junior, but because of the 180-degree bend the air transfer port takes, it will take some time to get the piston seal back up to speed. Or maybe they continue to accelerate also to a certain distance out from the barrel when their shot. Thinking about it I’m a little surprised that they haven’t monetised legal infractions regarding airguns.

The only saving grace was, their various tail colors let you know who shot the errant dart, as they always left telltale pieces of marabou. I have two gat pistols and a gat gun air rifle, 1 dart, lots of pellets, no corks and definitely no fly swatter. The middle 'barrel' is no more than a shroud over the operating spring and was not part of Quackenbush's original patent. Production finally ended with the death of Mr Harrington, increasing overseas competition and a declining public interest in 'nasty bits of machinery'.Just to clarify, it is now and always has been good practice to keep any ammunition separate from the weapon.

I can’t really say this was the UK’s Red Ryder tbh, you were definitely aware you were in the cheap seats if you had a Gat, I think that accolade really belongs to BSA’s Meteor. The barrel and piston are driven forward when fired, air passing into the chamber from two small transfer ports drilled at the rear of the barrel, just ahead of the leather seal. Please be aware that this will be void if there are any signs of tinkering with either the internals or externals of the item. I've seen darts that were made for either an air rifle or air pistol but wondered What rifle or pistol was designed to use them? Airgun darts are not suitable for use in some air pistols or air rifles, continued use may 'score' or smooth out the internal 'bore' pattern and should be used in a smooth bore barrel. Being a bit unable to do things these days the dart shooting would possibly be fun target practice and I could do it indoors. Not worth the risk in my opinion and certainly not with anything you don't want to ruin the barrel on .
