Fleeing to San Francisco he plans to sell the device to a company in Los Angeles but when he teams up with down on his luck singer Malik (Hardison) he finds himself being pursued by ruthless assassin Madison and his band of mercenaries. But our smoldering anti-hero has other plans and to defend his collagues and the one he loves, so he decides that revenge is the only way to clear the air. Not since " Collateral" has LA even looked close to the nighttime beauty of the opening of this film " Drive ". Like the commentary, it’s filled with plenty of personal details, as well as memories of working together.

Refn and Newman have worked together since Bronson in 2008, while Martinez joined the team with Drive three years later, but they clearly have good chemistry together. Martinez' instrumental score, coupled with the superior 80's-style song tracks, make for a soundtrack that is purely majestic - one of the greatest film scores of all time, and certainly one of the most memorable ones in the last 20 years. The plot of Drive is rather simple; again trying to capitalize on the structural certainty of American road movies that were popular during that time, and it takes place right after the Chinese government took back control of Hong Kong. Marking the first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release from both MVD and 88 Films, Drive arrives in a new 4K transfer sourced from a 4K scan of the original camera negative. They don't have the best picks for movies because they have a limited budget, so in most respects, they have their reputation and word of mouth. Special agent Toby Wong (Dacascos) is outfitted with some bio device that gives him superhuman powers, and Toby is worried that the Chinese government will want to exploit the device within him.

While their separate Blu-ray version may be Region B locked, this UHD is Region Free, and it has all of the same extras. That’s contrary to Hollywood norms, where car chases are supposed to have maximum energy at all times. No, there isn’t any new detail that wasn’t there before, but the textures do look significantly crisper and better defined than they did on 1080p Blu-ray. It is shot to absolute perfection, steeped in imagery, fable and mythology, and bathed in a sweeping, emotionally tangible torrent of pulses and beats; modern yet 80s-styled electro-pop enhancing the experience in much the same way that Daft Punk did on Tron: Legacyand that The Chemical Brothers did for Hanna.Combine that with Steve Wang’s skill for fluid action on a smaller scale, as well as Kadeem Hardison’s capability to tap into the story’s dopey humor, and you have one of the more unique action entries to come out of the late 1990s. Sure, most movies are 2 hours long and now we have to go into 95 or even 90 Mbps transfers, but this is still more than perfect. Updated daily and in real-time, we track all high-def disc news and release dates, and review the latest disc titles.

It's amazing the impact that sound and music have on a movie, because, it wouldn't have been the same if it wasn't styled this way. Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. That’s a nice collection of disc-based extras, but it’s a shame that the Limited Edition sold out so quickly, which would have warranted an overall rating of A+.The benefits here from upscaling at the uncompressed source are incremental, not revelatory, but it’s still a good reminder not to be so quick in dismissing anything that wasn’t captured natively at 4K.

I however felt that the scenes of violence stressed the lengths people will go to when trying to gain or protect certain things. Essentially, what I'm trying to say is that, in my opinion, all indie companies on 4K should strive for the highest quality transfers possible. The lead villian Madison is a crazy over the top Character, who actually has to go out of his way not to kill our hero, due to the bio of implant in his stomach. At its core, Drive is a weirdly feel-good movie about a couple of dudes just being dudes, learning about each other’s differences and pains, then working together to process those feelings through kicking, punching, shooting, looting, and joking.
