Ryuko Volume 1 By Eldo Yoshimizu |The Works

Monster is an outstanding manga that delves into the depths of crime and the human psyche. Set in Germany, the story follows Kenzo, who finds himself entangled in a web of darkness after he saves the life of a young boy who later becomes a notorious murderer. With its intricate narrative, complex cast, and exploration of psychological themes, Monster is a great thought-provoking tale. In the follow-up OVA episode, set two weeks after the battle with Ragyo, Rei Hououmaru uses leftover Life Fibers to create doppelgängers of Satsuki and the Elite Four in Junketsu and their original Goku Uniforms to disrupt Honnouji Academy's graduation ceremony and avenge Ragyo. But the clones are defeated while Satsuki convinces Rei to abandon her struggle as Ryuko uses the Scissor Blades to finish off Honnouji Academy. The school is shut down during the sinking of Honnō City, and everyone leaves to live out normal lives, with Satsuki having the students, Elite Four, Iori, Rei, and Mitsuzo give a final salute to the school while Ryuko departs with Mako and her family.Ryuuko Matoi is a girl who travels with a single red scissor blade, searching for the wielder of the other blade who killed her father. It is ruled over by the fearsome student council, led by the student council president, Satsuki Kiryuuin, who use powerful uniforms to crush anyone in their path. After suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of Satsuki, Ryuuko comes accross a possessed school uniform named Senketsu, who puts himself on Ryuuko, granting her special abilities. Teaming up with Senketsu, Ryuuko stands up against Satsuki and the student council to liberate Honnouji Academy from their iron grip and find out the truth behind her father's murder. Absolutely beautiful … It’s no wonder that Galleries all over the world exhibit Eldo Yoshimizu’s art” -Needless Essentials I didn't think that contemporary art was accessible for everyone to understand the ideas. Film brings you some emotional reaction, it has drama and you can easily share the experience and the feeling with your friends after watching a film. I didn't think you can do that after seeing my artwork. Only the people working in the art industry can share the experience. As a consequence although art is truly one of the better ones I saw in manga sometimes it is so shrouded in darkness and ink blots that it truly takes a lot of concentration to figure out what is going on. As a consequence reader will lose the thread and might be in ??? mode because story is standard Yakuza/Criminal/Revenge opera with great accent on action and movement and not that much on dialogs. So visual presentation counts.

The narrative is now more clear and focused, but there are some tonal shifts that didn’t cohere with the world established in vol 1. Some of our side characters get a little lost and forgotten, likely because the story wants to remain lean, mean, and propulsive, and couldn’t find the proper balance. When you get excited, you don't really feel the pain. I felt some warmth around my forehead, it was blood, I still have a scar there… It was quite bizarre. The actual scene was quite chaotic while I was fighting against those mobsters. I didn't quite figure out what was happening around me. It left me with a strong impression. I wanted to visualize that experience. That was a strong motivation [for me] when I was writing volume one of Ryuko, especially the action scenes. What will gravitate folks toward this story more than its bombastic action is its fleshed-out and flawed characters. Whether it’s Mon’s insane strength or Toshi’s awkward fascination with explosives, you’re guaranteed to adore the level of craftsmanship that went into writing these characters. Eldo Yoshimizu, a sculptor and artist whose work and exhibitions have been featured in Japan, Europe, and North America. He actually created the character in his sculptures and art long before the manga became a reality.

Ryuko Volume 2 is actually not that bad, especially if we compare it to the first volume. The plot makes more sense and in the end there are some questions answered, at least. Plus, most of characters' role becomes clear. It's not a typical spy story after all.
