First time I wore this fragrance I had just turned 18 and stole a couple spritz from my moms bottle.

It is mainly about the tuberose, the fruit notes, the mimosa, the gardenia and the ylang ylang in this to me, over a bed of creamy sandalwood and rosewood. I don’t think the sillage is big with the newer formulation but I am certain if I use more than 5 sprays, it would be bigger. Most of the big, bold fragrances from the eighties and nineties (mostly the florals) always put me off. Amarige is the symbol of femininity, radiating and bursting with happiness, a zest for life and a generous heart. My qualm with it is that it really does give the impression of a perfumer throwing everything at the wall to make a cheap fragrance feel luxurious, and ends up with this deodorant-medley backdrop that, while unmistakable and distinctive, I just can't get on board with. They took me to the emergency room to make sure I did not have a concussion, my only worry was my perfum It is one of the only perfumes that I can smell when I wake up in the morning from the two sprays I apply before bedtime. Sillage, longevity, strength are all A++ here, perhaps to the detriment of my poor, sensitive nose and that's coming from someone who does often like florals, especially white floral fragrances. This fragrance is created with top notes of neroli, mandarin and violet, middle notes of gardenia, minosa and ylang-ylang and base notes ambergris, musk and vanilla. After reading some reviews on this scent recently, talking about this being its best in cooler weather, I waited when cool weather and fog came back to us again and decided to go with a heavy hand to see what came of it.

So many people have so much to say about this perfume; which should be a marker of something special! Amarige' is an anagram of the French word 'Mariage' and the fragrance is as intense olfactory expression of the feelings people have on this day. This is very strong at first and can almost give you a migraine or make you dizzy, however it’s a pretty white floral and the dry down is beautiful and something woman can wear, I mean it’s not a Pink Sugar teenage scent but it’s not an strictly 80 year old scent either. I was fortunate to be able to try out both a newer and an older, possibly vintage, formulation of this fragrance. I don’t find the current formulation to be sharp at all, it’s quite smooth, and even when I spray heavily it never gets suffocating or fills the room.I had it when it first came out as well, and it seems that it has been reformulated, but it does not impact the bouquet in my opinion, but rather the longevity. In the end, I’m glad she encouraged me to indulge in my feminine side, to feel beautiful and confident when I needed it most. Perfumes with natural ingredients often smell different in batches based on the source of the ingredients, while synthetic ingredients usually have consistency in their smell and lasts longer. The quality of this scent doesn't change with time, nor does my ability to welcome all the wonderful exuberant fruits, floral, and wood scents blended with a master's hand. Amarige by Givenchy is a graceful and stylish fragrance that, to me, echoes the intricate beauty of French wall moldings.

VERY animalic, lost all floral or sweet notes and was quickly replaced with a very pungent almost dirty scent. I definitely smell more tuberose than anything (tuberose is so distinct though), bit I also get lots of jasmine (smells like real jasmine absolute), but this is so varied it's almost hard to understand it in one wearing. It begins with a bright and fruity combination of plum, ripe peach and mandarin, tamed by elegant rosewood and softened by opulent lashings of orange blossom and sweet violet.

But given that five stars were given to the most definitely (IMO) obnoxious though innovative Angel, I just can't understand the rude dismissal of one of the most gorgeous florals of all time (again, IMO), composed by the King of Florals, Dominique Ropion. It's superbly blended I cannot distinguish many notes just mimosa and tuberose and all good stuff blended. What people forget is that some of the most famous fragrance houses started then and have sustained famously for decades!
