DL - DL envelopes hold an A4 sheet folded twice; into 3 parts. Whilst this is the most popular size it does involve folding your stationery in three. If you prefer not to do this, you would be better off with the C4 or C5 sizes. First, you need to get a precanceled stamp permit by filling out the PS Form 3615. Then, you can buy these stamps in large volumes from the permit-issuing Post Office. The staff at the counter will ask you to put your card into the card reader and enter your PIN to confirm your account details. Adding postage to the machine can occur 24/7 and the price of franking is by far cheaper than any other method. A franking machine can even be used to frank a company logo onto your mail, helping to expand your business name.In the case of metered postage and permit imprints, you get an advance deposit account from the USPS. Each time you print them on a mailpiece, the postage is deducted from this account.

Plus' envelopes can only weigh up to 100g weight though. They must also be pre-printed with the special 'Plus' artwork and indicia barcode.

The final method of sending business mail is franking. A franking machine allows you to print a franking impression and this is the stamp alternative. You print the postage yourself and the key difference here is that the franking machine does everything for you. Little human interaction is even needed.
