I felt this was a most informative read and I feel very sorry for Corby, regardless of whether people feel she is innocent or guilty. It’s not for me to judge, I am not privy to the prosecution evidence or the full knowledge the AFP may have, but this aside, McCauley’s straight talking is very compelling.

The Sins of the Father is the second book in Jeffrey Archer’s highly acclaimed The Clifton Chronicles, Archer’s most ambitious work in four decades as an international bestselling author. Harry clifton , Giles Barrington and Emma and Maise and surely Sir walter barrington maybe the most regal and awesome characters created EVER. It is sad how all the friends who help these characters die =( but someone has to die in the was right? :P Readers of the J.P. Beaumont detective series have watched him evolve from being an alcoholic to becoming a ‘dry’ 72-year-old retiree happily married to Mel, Chief of Police of Bellingham. Fans of the series will get reacquainted with many of the recurring characters. J.P. is his self-deprecating best while providing local color of the Seattle metropolitan area and recounting the antics of his and Mel’s ninety-pound Irish Wolfhound, Lucy.So even though I felt the good characters were all sooooo good and the bad characters were nothing but bad (and you read about the SAME FIVE YEARS from three or four points of view which gets irritating, especially in Book 1), I still read both books in the series continuously for 10 hours and didn't put them down. Sins of the Fathers is the 24th book in the JP Beaumont series. Beau is retired from 3 jobs throughout the series but now working as a private investigator. He employs his usual clever analysis of the information and human nature to follow the truth. It's great to see him and his friends and family again. I suppose it wouldn't be necessary to read all the books but they are so wonderful I am glad I have read them all. The Sins of the Father is the second of the seven parts of the Clifton Chronicles by British author Jeffrey Archer. The book was published worldwide in 2012. [1] Plot [ edit ] But his ship is sunk in the Atlantic by a German U-boat, drowning almost the entire crew. An American cruise liner, the SS Kansas Star, rescues a handful of sailors, among them Harry and the third officer, an American named Tom Bradshaw. When Bradshaw dies in the night, Harry seizes on the chance to escape his tangled past and assumes his identity. The story contains a variety of interesting secondary characters, including: a prison warden; a literary agent; a book publisher; a butcher; a teacher; Emma's New York relatives; a Polish aristocrat; a private detective; German officers; and more.

For the Sins of My Father recounts the chilling rise and fall of the man who led the Gambino family's most fearsome killers and thieves, through the eyes of a son who had never known any other kind of life. Coming of age in an opulent Long Island house where money is abundant but its source is unclear, Al becomes Roy's confidant, sent to call in loans at age fourteen and gradually coming to understand his father's job description--loan shark, car thief, porn purveyor and, above all, murderer. But when Al is seventeen, Roy's body is found in the trunk of a car, a gangland slaying that places Al between federal prosecutors seeking his testimony and a mob crew determined to keep him quiet. The phrase, "sins of the fathers" appears in the Ten Commandments in Deuteronomy and Exodus. The phrase also appears in the book of Numbers and in Jeremiah. So, the phrase is linked to the keeping of the commandments and the consequences of sin passing through the generations. But the phrase is also a concept that is observed; sin does have consequences. The children of those who sin do in fact inherit the seed of sin and the sin nature. Moreover, certain sins carry intergenerational consequences. One thinks of abuse, alcoholism, and other sins of personal assault, violations of the image of God in the human being. Let's examine the quotes from Scripture: The book serves as a sequel to Only Time Will Tell, the first part of the Clifton Chronicles. It was followed by Best Kept Secret, published in March 2013. Archer remains a powerful narrator and linguistic sculptor, presenting the reader with a wonderful story that expands with each passing chapter. Renewing the layered narrative approach, the reader is treated not only to numerous plot lines through the eyes of various characters, but also a powerful addition to the central story with each section. The reader may bask in the exciting set of plots on which the novel continues to build. While the story has yet to really focus on a second (or third) generation, Archer had laid the groundwork for this and has a number of storylines ready to blossom. Patience, eager reader, as I am sure it all comes to pass soon. Naturally, this is not your ordinary missing person situation. The missing girl abandoned her newborn at the hospital and now her father is caring for the baby, hoping to obtain full legal custody. Not only that, Beaumont may have a personal stake in the matter, as his wild, alcoholic past may have come home to roost. Review copy was received from Publisher.
