This book is fantastic: it is a lovely blend of history, anecdotal snippets, practical advice for visitors and tourist information. If you want a guide to the city put this one at the very top of your list. It’s definitely my favourite. The author has an engaging writing style and you feel like you’re in the company of a trusted, knowledgeable friend. They all speak in a very corporate voice that is completely impersonal, and they don’t really care if you love a place or not.As much as my day job is all about beauty and fashion, my passion is travel.
