The not-so-good: Sometimes the main character is similar between books – but then I don’t read Sophie Kinsella for boring, predictable heroines. She just doesn't seem prepared to bend at all in her relationships whether that's in her love life or in her friendship group.She survives the flight, of course, and the next morning the famous founding boss of the mega corporation she works for is coming to look at the UK branch. Sometimes the characters are just quirky enough, sometimes they’re over-the-top and annoying with it. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she is mistaken for the interviewee housekeeper and finds herself being offered the job. In my spare time I haunt deserted cemeteries, lose my heart to dashing thieves, and crack tough cases, all from the comfort of my writing nook.

There are also some more serious moments in this novel dealing with disability and illness, proving that Kinsella can also do this well.Then there’s the issue of her two ex-boyfriends, both guests at the party… and somehow she can’t leave.

Sure we can have work acquaintances that we only know as their work persona but if you want any kind of deep and meaningful relationship with someone then you need to know what makes them tick and what makes them vulnerable. I still had lots of fun while reading it, and laughed at some scenes, but I really disliked the characters, specially our protagonist, and overall, I am not a fan of the mess this story turned into.
