I can understand people getting angry about gender bias, homophobia, racism and a myriad other things.

Running through it all though is the outrage so often generated on social media, the impact it can have on people and very on trend how public opinion is manipulated insidiously for all manner of reasons. It’s only in writing this now that I come to appreciate how great a job the author did in writing this book. For me, this book is a complete guide on the LGBTQ+ community and has surely been an eye opener to see things from different perspectives. Society seems to be divided into very specific boxes based on beliefs/politics/gender/sexuality, and Ben has a great time flogging each of these sacred cows.

I disagree with others who say that Kvothe is a dislikeable character because he excels at everything (acting, music, magic, academic studies) and lacks flaws. The book's less terrible than it would be if Elton was a full-on reactionary, but it's probably more boring. This book is primarily about Inspector Mike Matlock and his team investigating the murder of Sammy, a transgender woman who was killed in a park in London. The penultimate chapter, in contrast, was sinister and menacingly threatening; ending it there would have been perfect. We have an older detective struggling to keep up with the various genders and identities and ‘hash tags’ which have crept up on him and hit him from behind; we have a young woman, attracted to power and money, caught in a desperate love affair with a man serving as a proxy for the Russian government, as he attempts to undermine an ‘England Out’ referendum; bloody Love Island is never far from the goings-on of the story; and an old down-and-out actor who finds himself at the forefront of a revisionist movement to criminalise sex offenders from history, particularly focusing on Samuel Pepys. Beyond that this book also deals with what has long been termed "political correctness gone mad", and it really has gone mad. He may have had some thoughts about economic or social policy at some point in his life, presumably. He wanted to be a stagehand at the local theatre, but instead did A-Level Theatre Studies and studied drama at Manchester University in 1977. I have always referenced Blind Faith, but this is a wonderful exploration of the absurdity and hilarity that is identity politics, especially on social media.

is murdered in a park to the hammy old 'lech' of an actor maneuvering to stay relevant (and solvent) as his one man show is vilified.Just how do those posts from people we have never heard of, causes we have not registered an interest in arrive in our various online feeds? I disagree – his main flaw is that he thinks he lacks flaws; he wants to progress because he’s capable without always recognising he’s not ready; he thinks his course of action or plan is the best because it’s his, rather than slowing down and considering potential consequences; he’s rash. However, it is definitely controversial and no doubt would be offensive to some readers in relation to both its themes (identity, pronouns and online rage) as well as profanity (the 'c word' is used a few times, consider yourself warned). g. TERF, cis etc, I did identify with Mick Matlock, always scared to use the wrong expression and be vilified and possibly out of work, just by using the wrong word!

Ben has, in his own inimitable way, brought these issues to light - all, of course, highly exaggerated but written with such brilliant humour and intelligence! More recently he has had successes with three hit West End musicals, including the global phenomenon We Will Rock You. It all plays into the hands of the people who’re terrified the world is being taken over by non-straight non-binary nons-, and that the heterosexuals are going to be slaves to masters flying a rainbow flag. The youngest of four, he went to Godalming Grammar school, joined amateur dramatic societies and wrote his first play at 15. It cleverly jumps on very current issues; social media, fake news and the sheer fickleness of modern society.Of course, this is a very funny work of fiction, but there are some very disturbing truths which we will probably never be able to prove. This means that anything and everything that’s reported on might well be shit-stirring by international enemies. So they decide to ramp up the tension by turning the non-straight non-binary nons- against the heterosexual white couple.
