About this deal

If the headphones have sound in only one ear or differing sound levels in each ear or the sound in general is not what you expected then it needs to be determined where the issue lies - with the headphones or with the audio source. So as a conclusion we can state the MD 421 has no maximum SPL limitations for practical use. However if using dynamic microphones at high SPL levels a user should be aware that the very high voltage (up to several volts) delivered by the microphone might cause problems when connected to mic preamps. What you sacrifice with the HD25 Lights is the adjustability of the rotating earpieces on the more expensive models, but that’s not necessarily a problem depending on how you like to use your headphones. Personally I can’t remember ever using the split headband feature with my own HD25s. I do use the rotating earpiece often, but I could certainly live with the more basic design, which I found I could easily set in place for single-ear cueing. It’s worth noting that the cable also attaches to both ear cups separately on this model, as opposed to the way it comes in on one side and routes around the top of the headband on the more expensive models. For studio use none of this is a problem at all, and I suspect a lot of people will be happy to sacrifice that little bit of adjustability for the cost saving over the premium models. Critically acclaimed sound stage specifically designed for music creation with a clear and highly detailed sound representation. The set is available in many different colours, so you can leave a creative note on your headphone and you can give an old headphone a new look within seconds. With the Earpad Set Teddy you cann assure a perfect and great look of your professional Sennheiser and AKG DJ headphones.

If you’re on a tight budget, the cheaper HD25 Light model offers identical sound at a lower price point. You can read our review of the Sennheiser HD25 Light and comparison to the HD25 here. More info/Buy Pros With the updated 2020 model, Sennheiser claim to have improved the drivers for more accurate sound. It’s not entirely clear what the changes involve on a technical level, but we strongly suspect that the Light now uses identical drivers to the Plus model: they’re certainly visually identical and the improved frequency response specs (16 Hz – 22 kHz) match the more expensive model exactly (the old model used a slightly cheaper driver and was only rated at 30 Hz – 16 kHz response). The first thing to do is ensure that you have the audio plug of the headphones connected securely into the audio device. A properly connected cable should not wiggle. If the plug wiggles that could indicate a loose connection. NOTE: This could be a result of the cable not being plugged all the way in or it could be a faulty input or sometimes if the device you are connecting to has a case on it the case will prevent the cable plugging in correctly.Notes:A new refined model of the HPC-HD25 series, more suitable for the field, is now available from the NEO brand!

The RH2500 is surprisingly simple in a way. It’s a clean and streamlined, no-frills pair of headphones that gets the job done. Sometimes terms like ‘no-nonsense’ or ‘cheap and cheerful’ might sound like damning with faint praise, but in this case they should be taken entirely literally. No, the RH2500s can’t quite match the build quality or sound of some of the premium models on the market, but they’re really not all that far off models costing five times as much. Very impressive for DJs on a budget. More info/Buy ProsAs a comparison, I lined up the HD25 Lights alongside a brand new pair of the current standard HD25s and my own time-served pair of the old HD25-1 model. It’s immediately obvious that the sound is consistent across all three, offering that trademark HD25 low-end punch in abundance. The newer models both sound a little bit more bass-heavy compared to my old faithfuls, but that’s probably down to my choice of velour earpads. Audiophiles continue to debate whether headphone ‘burn in’ really exists, but my own experience with HD25s suggests that they do mellow slightly with use. Updated for 2020, Sennheiser’s HD25 Lights now sound almost identical to the more expensive models in the range.

As always, the capsules can be rotated and the split headband ensures a perfect fit, not matter how hard you find yourself nodding your head while in the mix. Even if you find yourself mixing for long periods of time, the Sennhesier HD25 remain comfortable and they’re built to last – with a tough single-sided cable which can be detached if required. We offer free delivery on all of our items (UK mainland only) please see details below. We look at ten of the best sets of DJ headphones to suit all budgets, including cult classics and new models from brands including Pioneer, Sennheiser and Technics. Overall, the improved HD25 Light is now a genuinely impressive entry-level option, offering virtually identical sound to the more expensive models but at a very attractive low price. The upgraded drivers make all the difference, meaning that you can now get the classic HD25 sound on a budget. Boasting some of the biggest drivers on the market at 53mm, there’s no doubt that Denon’s flagship HP1100 headphones have been designed with bass response very much in mind. That’s evident in their sound presentation, which is heavy on bottom end but doesn’t sacrifice clarity or precision as a result. All of the options on our list offer good sound for their respective price points. There is a marked increase in clarity as you progress to more expensive models, but even the cheaper models on our list are well suited to basic use for mixing at home. Build and portability Sennheiser has once again remained true to its purist, one-piece design, but with the technical data, it is fortunately now on a par with its big brother. Design and functionalityThe HD25s also feature a high-strength, detachable, single-sided cable which allows you to easily detach it for added portability. The detachable cable can also be replaced if you ever lose or damage it, meaning you don't have to get rid of the entire set of headphones and buy new ones. The padded, sturdy headband is designed for added comfort, combining with the earpads for a comfortable listening experience. Features The new HD 25 Light has the same technical specification as the larger model. Compared to the older Light edition, its frequency response opens up considerably more, from the former 30 to 16,000 Hertz to 16 to 22,000 Hertz. The slightly increased impedance to 61,4 Ohm (averaged) compensates for the significantly increased sound pressure level of 120 decibels (according to the manufacturer’s specifications). A common sight in DJ booths around the world since the 90s, the Sennheiser HD25 is the choice of professional DJs – the “industry-standard” DJ headphone. With a frequency range of 16 to 22,000 Hz and high sensitivity due to the lightweight aluminium voice coils, the latest generation of HD25 delivers accurate sound reproduction. Velour cushions are very comfortable to wear, even if it gets a little hotter and the "normal" cushions otherwise drip with sweat. This saying is not technically exactly correct but for every day use use of dynamic microphones you will not find gain limitations. At SPL levels above 160 dB some mechanical problems might occur (for example the voice coil might crash onto the magnet) but these SPL levels are very hard to find in real world.
