I asked, “ If the Holy Spirit dwells in and with me and other Christian mothers I know, how do I see Him work in my life, in my sometimes very little unexciting world? After this experience I quietly welcomed Him into my heart, I told Him to have all of me, to fill me and reveal Himself to me because I so wanted to know Him intimately not His power but His person, I was hungry and desperate for His relationship. He is not a spiritual force, but the divine person of God who does the work of the Father and the Son here on earth as He walks with us through life. But we learn specific details about Him when Jesus explained to His disciples what the Spirit would do for them after Jesus departed to go back to the Father.

It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. As someone who is a Spirit-filled believer, operates in the gifts of the spirit and attends a charismatic church I was saddened that I could not share this resource with my children due to the scriptural inaccuracies. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the world was created and is being sustained (see Gen 1:1-2; Job 33:4). The pronouncement from Jesus told us his Father would send a new Advocate in his place that we would not be alone. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and filled the entire house in which they were.

What an immense joy and consolation it is, we repeat, for us to know that the Holy Spirit is really, truly and personally in our souls. He fills us, giving us life, strength, hope, and freedom (Rom 8:2, 6, 13; Rom 15:13; Eph 5:18; 2 Cor 3:17). So grateful God never intended us to live life on our own…that He actually lives His life through us in the power of the Holy Spirit! In the first chapter of Genesis it is written, “Let Us make man in Our image, in Our likeness” (Genesis 1:26). Jesus became one person with two natures, becoming exactly like us and retaining his divinity at the same time. Pause and think about this for a second: the Holy Spirit, present at creation with God the Father and God the Son, who is Himself fully God and is one with Jesus, desires a friend relationship with you.His presence in the workings of God from these first pages to the end of the Bible is evident in many other verses. Throughout the Bible there are verses which mention the plurality of God—that He is One yet three persons.
