About this deal

I am sure there are many readers out there that had to put down this book because they thought he was "rude" or that his language was "too inappropriate," but those people must live in a bubble of happiness and rainbows because that's not life for 90% of us. Cause after all, love is like selling products, and that's why between the pages of the author's adventures we'll find paragraphs about his advertisemet's ideas.

While this is by no means a literary masterpiece by Hemingway or Fitzgerald, it's a disgustingly entertaining piece that chronicles the thoughts and feelings of an ex-alcoholic misogynist who is apathetic to any form of emotional attachment and committed relationship. There is almost no actual narrative (the book is broken up into segments based on the girls he dates or sleeps with), and the cute ideas for TV commercials don't quite make up for the fact that most of this book seems to be the author writing about sex for the sake of writing about sex. This culminates in him creating a fictional dating profile of a beautiful girl who cites Diary Of An Oxygen Thief as her favorite book. I'd describe his online dating endeavors as probably standard among those who have tried it, and he doesn't exactly provide a new perspective.

Diary of an Oxygen Thief worked for me, despite the repetitions, rants/rambles, diversions and fourth-wall breaking, because it wasn’t sectioned. It just was missing that gruesome, brutal, edge that made the first book in the series such an enamouring read. If people hated the first book because of graphic nature, then this one definitely took the cake between both works. I do hear a lot of people complain about his writing style, but honestly, if you judge a book on how it's written and not what the words are saying, then you're missing out and you can have fun reading the well structured stuff that isn't anywhere near as good. And when fulfilling our desires isn't enough anymore we want to become the object of other's desire. To me, these books represent a retrospect of my ex partner and how he possibly sees me and life in general. There is some imagery that I really like too, such as “[w]e cowered in some god-awful seaside restaurant that looked like it might have been on the shores of the Styx, and wordlessly stared out the window as angry white-knuckled waves repeatedly tried to grip the mainland and drag it under” (p. I didn't think anything would be able to top Diary of an Oxygen theif, which is one of my all time favourite books! Also, I don’t know if the snippets at the end of the book are actual messages the author received from the dating site or not, but they’re a nice touch. Dazzling, daunting, and darkly hilarious, this spellbinding sequel is a spectacular indictment of a modern love twisted beyond recognition.
