The plot of who is trying to kill who, and who is trustworthy (at least enough to survive on) or not, and who has set everything up for a final confrontation is almost irrelevant. Detail and definition are impeccably reproduced as images have a luminous and sparkling clarity that is appreciably three dimensional. Shot using a variety of different techniques to make full use of the train’s length, the entire image is bright, shiny, full of neon infused Tokyo colorings, and some AMAZING detail levels. A couple of the highlights include Brian Tyree Henry and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Lemon and tangerine.

Calibrated with Calman color calibration software and Portrait Displays C6 HDR2000 colorimeter from Portrait. track, it is distinctly enhanced with the overhead usage and the deft way sound positioning shifts during all of the chaotic action going on.This release has an excellent-sounding Dolby Atmos track that ignites a heart-pounding soundtrack with fun and vigor. There are only a handful of scenes that take place outside the train, and those are either at night or in a dimly-lit train station.

resolutions on Arri Alexa Mini LF and Alexa SXT cameras (with some footage also shot on 35mm film with the Arricam LT camera), completed as a 4K digital intermediate in the 2. I know the movie itself seems to be polarizing around here where some people loved it and some people were quite disappointed (for reasons I just can’t fathom), but even if you aren’t a fan of the movie I think you’d have to admit it is a great 4K disc. On a smaller screen it’s probably not noticeable, but it did jump out at me when it happened (watching on a 77” LG CX OLED).These spacial noises are nuanced and well-balanced in each speaker which flows smoothly in transitional sounds. After seeing the teaser for Bullet Train while at the theater earlier this year I was instantly in and decided it would be best viewed in my home theater environment. It starts out with just a few quick witticisms, but as the plot unfolds and we find out that it’s a giant setup, everything goes haywire. The cast earns a seven-minute look at their work, action pre-vis runs four-minutes, an NBA Finals promo hits four-minutes, and then finally, a segment pointing out easter eggs also reaches four-minutes.

In Bullet Train, Brad Pitt stars as Ladybug, an unlucky assassin determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs gone off the rails. The HDR and Dolby Vision are simply incredible though, making everything pop simply because every color on the train is hyper aggressive and stylized. There are explosions, nearfield pans, and weapon fire that rotate around the soundstage, shifting overhead, passing by at ear level and coming at the listening position. The 4K image with Dolby Vision looks exquisite and demo-worthy and the Dolby Atmos audio track sounds lovely and loud. The 1080p transfer looks terrific but, this rendering takes it up a notch with an increase in detail, and emboldened highlights, both light and dark. Ladybug is the only character in the film who doesn’t really want to kill anyone, but in the end, he has the highest body count. With the almost constant thrum of the smooth train, interspersed with whipping acoustics for exterior shots of it tearing along at full pelt, Bullet Train isn't wall-to-wall action, but does have more than enough to keep you enthralled, whether in more subtle atmospheric flourishes or in body blows and blade slices, or in thunderous gunfire and explosions, peppered throughout but landing with a bang in its all-out finale. Most of the activity appeared to be confined to the bed layer and i felt the heights channels were sparsely used, except for a couple of scenes.
