Description

Great for year-round use, compact and lightweight, the OEX Traverse IMX Sleeping Mat is made using a nylon ripstop outer fabric with a water-repellent coating so it will stand up to camping in inclement weather conditions. It's as if they challenged the designers to come up with the worst possible design and they all went out hell for leather to outdo each other and came up with this miserable bit of useless tat, Why not a simple hand ball pump similar to those found on a manual bp machine, lightweight, compact and efficient. Yes it would be nice if it was included with a mat - but the mats are cheap and would be more expensive if they included the pump.

Any recommendations for an inexpensive lightweight inflatable mat that packs down small for bike camping? This is of course really helpful, but there’s almost too much information available, so it’s important to know exactly what you’re looking for. I thought I’d share this kit list here as it’s something I’d have certainly found helpful when I was getting ready to go! Just been looking and they do some with the same weight at my expensive Thermarest Neoair Xlite but far cheaper! But - it's not that hard to stick your hand inside to open it up and fill with air, roll the top down a turn or two and run your hand down to inflate.

Dose the job and is easier then blowing up by lung but why ohh why oex did you not make the dry sack cylindrical and then stitch and tape or seam weld the valve on , currently the design is two flat panels welded together, great for use as dry bag but useless at catching air, if it was a cylinder the bag would stay open and it would be easy to trap the air inside. One issue I’ve heard of is moisture from your breath rotting the mat from the inside (obviously over a fairly long period). Bivy wise I’m going for an alpkit hunka as it’s better spec than the oex one and I’ll go for the oex tarp. Having written that, I had a Thermarest Xlite fail at the seam that needed warrantying by Cascade so they’re not immune either.

Additionally make sure your User-Agent is not empty and is something unique and descriptive and try again. If you want a mat adding to the list add a comment at the bottom of the page and I will add it to the the list! However, if you’re still on the fence and want to look at some more options, here are some great alternatives to consider.

Do this 4 or 5 times and the mat is inflated with air that is as dry as you can get it without dessicant. The mat is VERY noisy when you move on it, it woke me up a few time but also kept my friend awake in the nearby tent. It self-inflates in no time at all (and can be topped up using the OEX Dry Pump if you prefer a very full inflation), and comes with a handy carry bag. Here is a list of some of the popular mats on the market in 2019 and some stats to help you compare the different mats. I’ve had reason to use Alpkit’s warranty on their airmats a couple of times, fortunately not mid tour.OEX Traverse Self-Inflating Mat reviews, OEX Traverse 3/4 Self-Inflating Mat reviews or Sea To Summit Women’s Ether Light XT Insulated Mat (Regular) reviews. In an ultra-lightweight, durable construction the OEX Traverse IMX Inflatable Sleeping Mat is ideal for expeditions. In fact they probably fit in the final segment we mentioned above whereby they deliver a fantastic overall package. The compact pack size makes it easy to transport whilst saving valuable space in your bag, so you don’t have to sacrifice a good night’s sleep.
