There isn't an over-arching agenda; there is just a deep and empathetic conflict about what is best for Luna (the whale). The fight to figure out what would be the best for Luna in and among the residents, authorities and Native peoples was frustrating and at times heartbreaking. For, this is one of the most beautiful and heart-warming stories that i've ever read ,that left me crying buckets full of tears because it is really beautiful and i myself felt some kind of deep connection with it. The authors of the book tell the comprehensive story of the little whale, who becomes such an endearing creature, and discuss what was learned as a result of Luna's life. Some of my earliest memories are visits to the library with my mum and then scampering back home to lose myself in the pages of a book.

Rio is sent to stay with his grandmother in California whilst his Mum is hospitalised back home in the UK. Rio savner sin mor fra første sekund og det eneste, der får ham til at smile, er hvalsafari med hans nye veninde Marina.I refer to this book as my love letter to the ocean as it captures everything I have always loved about the sea - the magic, the lure, the power and most of all, it's ability to heal us.

The beginning as a lot of set up where the reader is told about the humans in Luna's story and a little bit of their backgrounds, which was great later on when the story is mostly Luna centered, but is greatly affected by the humans in his life. It is like the breaking of the law of gravity, or the speed of light, one of those immutable, established pieces of one’s understanding of the world that cannot be moved. Hay muchos prejuicios, incluso se llegan a considerar inferiores, y es algo que me da mucha rabia porque no hay duda de que en la LIJ se pueden encontrar verdaderas joyas con muchísima calidad.Change, shock, homesickness, internalising all this devastation, Rio is sent to stay with his mother's mother, Fran. His love of stories, painting and the work of illustrators such as Maurice Sendak, Alan Lee and Dave McKean led him to study Illustration at the University College Falmouth, where he developed narrative illustrations in his own style; a stylised realism.

Besides climate change, Hannah Gold interwoven the issues of ocean's pollutions, whales huntings, whales accidents due to ships and boats collisions, ghost nets entanglement and other major threats perfectly well into the story and how we humans play very important roles in safeguarding the ocean and its inhabitants and how we can make a difference if we cared and work together. But White Beak is missing--and Rio must embark on a desperate journey across the dangerous ocean to find her.who engaged with Luna, opened my eyes and perception to the reality that communication is more than just words spoken.

Her latest book, FINDING BEAR - a sequel to THE LAST BEAR - was a top five children’s hardback bestseller on its release in September 2023. Marina is a whale watcher and she guides Rio into an understanding of the power of the sea and the beauty and majesty of its giant inhabitants, whales. Hos sin mormor finder han en masse gamle tegninger, som hans mor har tegnet af hvalerne - specielt hvalen Hvidnæb. The Lost Whale explores the environmental impact that humans have on the oceans, like your debut The Last Bear. This book is about a beautiful soul and the decision he made and the humans that scramble to figure out was is best for him while wondering all the time if they have any clue as to what that is. Trying to find something strong that binds us together again just as Rio had found it through her mother's love for the ocean and a beautiful Grey Whale named White Beak. Den ene side af fortællingen om Rio og alle de hemmeligheder han holder gemt dybt inde om det at have en syg mor. It is honestly a miracle he didn't get sick, especially since it can be so much worse in places like the one he lived. I was eagerly anticipating Hannah's next book and found it a slightly easier read than the Last Bear.
