We are already huge Hatchimals fans in our house, after reviewing the Hatchimals Hatchibabies last Christmas. We also love the Hatchimals Pixies and Hatchimals CollEGGtiblestoo. Spinmaster seem to come up with something fabulous every Christmas, as was the Luvabella and Luvabeau interactive dolls the previous Christmas, which captured both my girls’ imaginations. The new Hatchimals WOWfeaturesover 250 sounds and reactions; so much to discover.She shrinks down when she’s held; chases her accessory up and down; sings along to music; grows tall to reach the high note and more!

Then I heard about the release of Hatchimals WOW – and quite literally WOW – I was pretty impressed by the concept even as a grown up! A hatchimal that not only grows and changes in size, but can be hatched over and over again, waking up in one of 10 different moods!! The hatching is by far the girls favourite part, so I felt that Hatchimals WOW would offer something a little different to what we had experienced before. Spinmaster very kindly sent us a Hatchimals WOW to review with the girls, and we were all pretty excited! Recording your voice is fun and we did manage this. You hold both of the Hatchimals feet and the eyes go a teal colour. Say what you want to say and let go of the feet. You can make your recording be on repeat on pitch up depending on holding toes or touching the forehead or belly. This year we have also tested out the fab Owleez flying Owl from Spinmaster, which is another fab toy for Christmas. You can read more in our review. You can then remove the Hatchimal from the egg base and start to play! You can see on the picture below it is moving, as my eldest was removing it from it’s egg base. Before I even write the full review I am writing this here so it is seen early on. Hatchimal WOW Not Working The Pros and Cons of course can help you make a decision about whether or not you think this is the toy for your child, this Christmas. The Hatchimals Wow Llalacorn can be re-hatched – something that you couldn’t do previously. Not only that, the egg it comes in is the largest Hatchimals egg ever!

When it is ready to hatch you will see rainbox eyes through the egg shell and then the llalacorn will keep growing taller and taller until the egg shell has been pushed off! Each Hatchimals WOW Includes: 1 Hatchimals WOW, 1 Re-Hatchable Egg, 1 Confetti Fruit Accessory, 1 Instruction Guide. The Llalacorn character inside is very cute. The Llalacorn we revealed was the purple one and she has a pretty face, glowing eyes and a soft fluffy body, Neve was pretty keen to take her out the egg, bringing her in for a little cuddle before we started to play. If you leave your Hatchimals Wow alone for 30 seconds it will fall asleep. You can turn it off using the on/off switch on the base of the Hatchimal. How to re-hatch the Hatchimals Wow You can’t cuddle it and be close to it when you are playing with it, as it has to be on a flat surface.You can re-hatch the egg, which means the excitement continues and you can do this as many times as you want. As the egg can re-hatch, there is much less waste. I found with previous Hatchimals product, the egg goes everywhere and it is a lot of plastic waste. The pink egg is re-usable and actually fun to play with in another context!

You can tilt the egg and hold it there to cuddle it - it will show pink eyes. If you keep it tilted for more than 30 seconds it will fall asleep and show white eyes. Play peek-a-boo. If you put the egg top on the top of it's head it's eyes will turn off and it will make curious sounds. Take the top off and it's eyes will light up and it will say peek a boo! Try tapping one of it's toes while the egg is on top of it's head too. Overall I have to say, I was a little disappointed with the Hatchimals WOW, in comparison to the Hatchimals Hatchibabies we reviewed last year. Even though it re-hatches there are a couple of niggles, such as it doesn’t work on carpet or when you are holding it and the hatching process is not as fun. Your Hatchimal will sneeze. It rises and says “ahh ahh!” If you touch their forehead it will move down. If it reaches the top will do a big sneeze, if hits the bottom, the sneeze goes away. The girls were VERY excited when they first saw the giant egg and couldn’t wait to get started in hatching their Llalacorn!Another way is to touch on of the toes three times. It should sink down and then if you tap the toes again it should grow. Stop tapping and it will sink. Again we struggled to do this but like anything, takes some practice. In the meantime, don’t forget the new adorable Toothless hatchimal that is also available this year! Inside the largest Hatchimals egg ever, you could hatch a pink or purple Hatchimals WOW in only 5 minutes! Then, extend the egg play and hatch again and again. I love this idea, as the magic isn’t over. Each time Llalacorn wakes up, she’ll be in 1 of 10 surprise moods! Sometimes you will find it in surprise moods so if you know how to get it into a better mood that is lots of fun. How to play with the Hatchimals Wow

It’s really interactive and once figured out, is really good fun. It’s also good to play with your child for some time together. There’s over 250 sounds and interactions as well. The first time the llalacorn hatches she will even sing Hatchy Birthday. The llalacorn can also ay “I love you,” giggle, cry, sneeze, hiccup, and can let you know when she’s hungry with a tummy rumble!It can get hiccups with orange eyes or go cold with blue eyes but we didn’t see this before it hatched! The Hatchimal suddenly has rainbow eyes and you hear “ready to hatch music”. You then have to remove the ribbon band and it will hatch if upright. The top of the egg pops off and it sings “Happy Birthday”. All in all this is a really fun toy to play with. We did find it somewhat difficult to get it to do what we wanted to though. We found that it helped to have it on a solid, flat surface but it can be a bit frustrating to work properly. I think if you are happy just to play randomly with it you will be ok, but if you are determined to make it do what it is supposed to you might struggle.
