Description

Starving Citrus trees rapidly develop yellow leaves which is quickly remedied by this high-nitrogen soluble formula. When you think it is going to be too cold overnight it's best to move your tree to a new position for the coming months rather than try and move it in and out and every day. Do keep an eye on the weather forecast and if we have a hard frost forecast then most citrus will be better off inside. Citrus plants flower year-round, so ensuring you're feeding the right nutrients during the colder months will help fruiting in the summer.

Because of this, you may choose to keep your lemon trees out a little longer than usual but do make sure their roots have a chance to dry out between downpours. Try a slice of lemon in hot water for a healthy alternative to tea or coffee or try using sour Oranges and Kumquats in place of Lemons in your favourite recipes. Non-hardy Calamondins, Sweet Oranges, Kumquats, Tahiti Limes, Grapefruits and Mandarins should be kept above 5C and it's best to move them inside before the night time temperature drops much below this and wait until late Spring before they go back outside.

Kaffir Limes, Kumquats and some Lime trees seem most susceptible to this and once the days start to get longer they will pick up and put on new growth.

Sow seeds fresh from ripe fruit at a depth of about 1cm (½in) in John Innes seed or multi-purpose compost at a temperature of 16°C (61°F).A balanced, soluble fertilizer, Citrus Feed Winter has been specially formulated to provide nutrient support to all citrus plants. Citrus trees work hard to produce flowers and then grow the fruit, as well as keeping the foliage green and growing. Lemon Meyers, Limes, Grapefruits, Kumquats and Clementines will naturally drop when they are ripe, but Lemon4seasons, Calamondins and Chinottos will need to be picked off the tree when they are fully coloured. Sprayed last thing at night, the plant is often still damp in the morning and the fertilizer is quickly absorbed through the leaves. Applied weekly from April to September, Citrus Summer Soluble Feed will promote strong, vegetative growth and fruiting potential.
