Description

Some plants, however, are more of a challenge and so will not be as easy to propagate without using one at all. These synthetic commercial products mimic auxin, which is a natural plant hormone that stimulates root growth. Pour the powder or gel into a sterile container and then simply dip the base of your cutting into it, and tap or shake the cutting to remove any excess (if the powder won't stick then dip the cutting in water, first). Wherever possible we will ensure that you are completely satisfied with the item purchased and in the case of faulty or unsatisfactory goods, will repair, replace, or offer a refund as quickly and efficiently as possible. Organic rooting powder made with all natural ingredients, free from synthetic hormones and fungicides.

All plants naturally possess hormones, including the growth hormone auxin, which is produced in immature parts of the plant, where growth is necessary. But never give a new or established plant too much rooting hormone or it can damage the root system. Vitax Organic Rooting Powder is a growth supplement containing an organic source of seaweed and minerals to help create conditions which encourage deep and healthy root development in cuttings and young plants. The ends of a cutting are dipped into the substance before those cuttings are planted into the ground or into pots. Honey and cinnamon will not exactly encourage rooting, but they will both help to keep your cuttings safe from pathogens and significantly reduce the chances of a ‘damping off’ problem taking hold. The rooting powder is a bio-simulator – which provides the natural auxins found in a cutting naturally - to encourage a consistent uniform of roots around the base of the cutting. A handy addition to any keen gardeners repertoire, this can be used on both edible and ornamental plants.

Dip the tips of your cutting into the powder to kickstart the rooting process, and insert into a suitable free-draining compost or rooting medium. While many plants root freely on their own (see below), using a root hormone makes the task of propagating 'difficult' plants much easier. We supply the best quality young plug plants from our nursery in Staffordshire delivered throughout England, Scotland and Wales. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Use on a variety of both indoor and outdoor cuttings, including new growth, brittle stems, woody stems, grafting, young plants, corms and bulbs. The rooting powder contains no synthetic growth hormones or fungicides as found in other manufactured hormone rooting powders.

It is important to understand that these chemical products, especially synthetic ones, can be toxic. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The roots will also develop faster and stronger than when you don’t add additional hormones to your growing cuttings. Rooting powders often also contain cytokinins (another plant growth hormone), fungicides, and other chemicals, which reduce the risk of the plants succumbing to fungal infections.

Under the Intoxicating Substances (supply) Act 1985, it is an offence to sell Solvents or any other product that may contain intoxicating substances to persons under the age of 18. It's best to use powders and gels as it's possible to damage the cuttings if you accidentally use too much of the rooting liquid.

The parent must be vigorous and healthy, and make sure the growing tip is between three to eight inches long.
