Description

An utterly absorbing multi-generational tale - the beautiful relatable writing we've come to expect from Elizabeth Noble, with a touch of summer magic... I adored it -- Penny Parkes The children no longer children but now grown up and their parents have now entered the next stage in life and a time when things change. The latest holiday was the start of the change when the now mature Natalie wears a red bikini instead of a sedate one piece, she has the figure for it but everyone has noticed. The story flows well, highlighting the close friendships which have developed over time and the minutiae of life as each of the six couples bring their own distinct personalities into the mix, closely observing all the actions and reactions, and the heightened emotion of anger, sadness, lust and mistrust.

After finishing university, she worked for a number of publishing companies, including Reed Books, Hodder & Stoughton, HarperCollins, and Scholastic, predominantly as a marketing executive. The Family Holiday” is a stand alone novel and was released in the year 2020. The Chamberlain family was once close. I was a little daunted by the list of characters at the start of the book, six couples and their children. I have to admit it took me a while to ‘know’ them all but it really was worth it. The human aspects and fallout from the ‘affair’ resounded so realistically. The pain, guilt, humiliation, hurt and emotional ripple effects upon everyone when the group was split open. How many of us nowadays do not know of these from our own families or circle of friends. Noble develops your empathy keenly and not always for the characters you would expect. I really struggled to read this book as there is too much going on. Although the characters were all very different with their own unique struggles and issues it felt like an overload. We are following 6 couples and all their children so it’s hard to feel like the story focused on each one well enough. I would have preferred a book per couple or less couples just because personally it was an information overload. I think that some parts of the book where slow and could have been a tad more face paced.

Publication Order of Standalone Novels

The power/legacy of female friendship is illustrated so well highlighting strength, tenacity and forgiveness! Noble tells the story from a good understanding of all characters; she seems to have a good idea of how an adulterer and adultress might feel, as well as their other halfs and children. The compelling new novel from the Sunday Times bestselling author of Love, Iris and The Family Holiday The Reading Group” is the first stand alone novel and was released in the year 2002. A few bottles of wine, a group of friends, and one good book. What could be any better than that? The women that form the Reading Group are just as varied as the books that they choose to read.

The book starts with a lot of characters. They are all couples who met through their children attending the same school and they and their children have become friends. I initially found this off putting knowing that I struggle with names in real life let alone in a book! Wow a fantastic read that truly looks at relationships and friendships in depth! Totally relatable, true to life and believable!

Elizabeth went to Hurtwood House School in Surrey and St. Edmund Hall, Oxford, graduating in the year 1990 with a BA Hons in English Literature and Language. A frank and believable account of friendship and a marriage under stress. I was moved' ADELE PARKS, SUN

The compelling and gripping new novel from the Sunday Times bestselling author of Love, Iris and The Family Holiday So, when tragedy plays a hand, their friendship is put right to the ultimate test. Can they put each of their differences and troubles aside and remember the simple joys of their younger selves. After all, shouldn’t friends always come first? The fallout is heart breaking, not only for the spouses that have been cheated on, but the children, general friendships, female friendships and if the group can ever be the same again.I did initially think it was quite a lot of characters, although many of them are just minor so it didn't cause any confusion. She has been married to David Young since 1996. the couple have two daughters, Tallulah Ellen (born 1997) and Ottilie Florence (born 1999). she is the step-mom to a son from her husband’s first marriage.

Other People's Husbands is a story of friendship and love, crossing boundaries and breaking vows, of trying to fix what you believed could never be broken. When it comes to writing about family life, Elizabeth Noble is pitch-perfect . . . Relatable characters in a real situation - a clever read indeed! * Woman's Weekly * A moving and warm-hearted novel about love in all its forms... Nobody weaves a complex web of stories with quite the same skill as Elizabeth Noble * Sunday Express * A group of close friends, their bonds forged at the nursery gates two decades ago, have celebrated, commiserated and grown together: they thought they all knew each other so well.

Retailers:

It follows a group of close friends in their late 40s and 50s who originally met via the school gates and have shared each others lives ever since. Twenty years later one of them has an affair. Could this betrayl destroy everything? To some extent the plot of Other People’s Husbands is as old as time, where love and lust become confused and destructive, but this story is so imbued with sensitive understanding, with realism and compassion that it feels quite perfect. I believed in the people, the settings and the situations completely so that I found the story very affecting and emotional. Carefully plotted over a year, Other People’s Husbands would make a fantastic television drama series.
