I had a tiny part of a blues riff and Dwight ran away with it and turned the chorus into a bit of an Eagles and Joe Walsh vibe. We were just in full-on guitar mode. We were trying to make an Allman Brothers record with that one.”

The only pressure was “OK - Kelly Jones wants to write a song with you, so chop chop, let's go!" says Patty Lynn. Recording what became Far From Saints' self-titled debut - which is released on Friday - only took nine days. The pandemic, however, meant its release would have to wait. Jones went on to say that now was a good time to take “a little holiday” from Stereophonics and work on “some other bits and pieces”, including a “completely different” new solo album. Opening with a gentle acoustic riff from Dwight Baker, ‘Screaming Hallelujah’ begins with soulful, bittersweet call-and-response vocals from Patty Lynn and Kelly Jones before their harmonies intertwine with an audibly organic bond on the song’s soaring, dramatic hook. As the two singers explain, ‘Screaming Hallelujah’ offers a message of acceptance and grace towards a loved one who is experiencing a difficult period of transition. The song was written and produced by Far From Saints and then mixed by the Grammy-nominated Al Clay (Blur, Pixies).
