The Kinvara 13 appears to be slightly roomier than the previous iterations. Our medium-width feet experienced no toe bumps or toe pressure in this Saucony shoe.

Saucony Kinvara 13 Review (2022 Release) - DOCTORS OF RUNNING Saucony Kinvara 13 Review (2022 Release) - DOCTORS OF RUNNING

The grip is average on most foam-based outsoles, and it’s no different here – the traction is sufficient for dry and wet roads, but average on smooth floors and metal drainage covers. Overall: B+/A- ( A well done straight forward shoe. Flexible low riding sole with enough protection for training. For those wanting a natural ride under foot they'll get it here.) I have 40 miles on my Kinvaras and the outsole shows nearly no wear. The reinforced rubber is only on the posteriolateral heel and medial forefoot, whereas I normally wear outsoles at the lateral midfoot. It will be interesting to see how many miles I get on these, considering that I normally get only 200 miles on the New Balance Beacon, which has a similarly designed outsole. Technology name means nothing if you have no idea how it benefits you. Here we briefly explain the most common and popular features used in Saucony shoes. ISOFITThis graphic highlights most of the positive aspects of the Kinvara 13. Besides its speed-oriented road behavior, the firm cushioning is stable and forefoot-strike friendly. There’s not much competition in the lightweight 4 mm offset trainer category, but if you’re willing to look past the heel drop, there are many alternatives to the Kinvara 13.

The Kinvara 13 is not a racing flat, so there’s sufficient ride comfort for long-distance runs – say, up to a half marathon. For a more cu shioned ride, take the Saucony Endorphin Speed 2. And for longer distances, go for the NB FuelCell Rebel v2. If you're looking for an easy-day trainer, the Saucony Endorphin Shift 2 is a no-brainer. Kinvara 13 vs. 12: Nothing major In the Kinvara 12, the pattern is updated to allow for graduated levels of flex depending on location. The brand itself estimates around 400 miles for its shoes’ lifespan. However, some models can be more durable, while others may not live up to that claim. Here are some of the signs that you need to replace your pair: This lineup shares most design components with its neutral counterpart. Its inherent support not only works for mild overpronation but is also unobtrusive for neutral runners.

Until this point, the Saucony Ride was a neutral trainer with a noticeably firm ride. This made it a favorite for runners who not only wanted a stable ride, but also a speed-friendly character that was the inevitable result of a firm midsole. David: The Kinvara 13 performs like many would it expect it to. This is a lightweight performance trainer with a flexible sole throughout that lets you do you. The PWRRUN midsole is an EVA blend that has a little bit of suspensiveness and responsiveness to it but it isn't anything overly bouncy or powerful. This is a shoe that gives you what you put into it. For the most part the sole is relatively flat throughout with a lot of flex grooves throughout the exposed EVA outsole. There is a heel bevel that has a slight decoupling in the heel that does seem to be beveled well. There is a slight toe spring but this shoe relies more on the natural flexibility of the shoe. For those that have stiffness through the metatarsals and through the great toe this may be a challenging shoe, but fore those that like a flexible low riding shoe this could be a great option. The shoe only weighs 7.2 ounces size 9 and that lightweight feeling is certainly present when running in the shoe. Similar to previous models the shoe has a relatively narrow last and outsole through the midfoot and so for those that are sensitive to narrow platforms they won't be getting too much stability from this shoe. For the purpose of the shoe this shoe hits the spot though. It is a nice hybrid for those that like a more minimalistic shoe but just need a little bit more on it. The only thing I might like to see would be creating a little more outsole coverage through the forefoot to stiffen the ride up ever so slightly without adding too much weight. This would make the shoe a little less slappy through the forefoot when running fast. Outside of that the performance of this shoe is quite good and will still please the Kinvara following. We measure over 30+ parameters that contribute to the shoe’s performance. That includes cutting each one into pieces, testing breathability with a smoke machine, and more. Stability: B- ( The upper and sidewalls help. Though there isn't much outsole coverage, a relatively narrow last, and a lot of flexibility throughout the sole. For those that can handle that it should serve them quite well but it won't be for those that have stability demands.)

Performance: A- ( Really natural and flexible ride throughout. Responsiveness could be improved a tad by just increasing the rigidity through the midfoot a tad) The Kinvara 13 doesn’t have any reflectivity, and gets rid of whatever little low-visibility trims that the 12 had. Keep in mind though that the cushioning loses its softness in colder conditions. This means that it might take some time for the shoe to "warm up." The upper materials and overall construction are similar to the past models, and none of them had concerns with low durability. THE UPPER DESIGN AND FIT Davis, I. (2014). The Re-emergence of the Minimalist Running Shoe. The Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy (44, no. 10). 775-787 .From time to time carriers may deliver earlier or later, or on non working days however this is cannot be guaranteed nor should it be expected. The ride provides a unique balance of having enough cushion for shorter daily runs and being light enough for workouts. Most people used to current shoe design will find this shoe may work better as a workout shoe, especially if they are looking for a non-plated, flexible shoe. There is enough cushioning for me for runs up to 8 miles, but then I start to fatigue. Those used to more maximal shoe designs will want to take time to transition into this shoe as it requires more work from your body and especially the ankle. The sole and design make it a great workout shoe as it responds well to faster speeds. It is not the fastest shoe given the flexibility, but does quite well on tempo runs, fartleks and intervals. Most people may not be able to use this as a long run shoe due to this design not being as common, but for moderate to shorter length workouts it will do well. David: The Saucony Kinvara 13 is a lightweight performance trainer for those looking to have a natural ride underfoot. The shoe does not have a dramatic drop and has good flexibility throughout the shoe. This is one of those shoes where it is "all you". There is just enough cushion to handle long runs and just enough durability for those that are looking for that in a daily training shoe. For me, this is a lightweight performance shoe great for long runs and fartleks. It isn't a shoe that has many bells and whistles but features a nice upper with good platform integration. The Kinvara 13 from Saucony goes on a diet with its 6.8 oz (192 g) weight in a men's US 9. This is lighter than all of the previous Kinvara iterations! And contrary to the average of tempo running shoes (8.9 oz), it doesn't tip the scales. It is incredible breathable which made for some cold toes as I tested the K!2 at the end of winter. Printed graphic overlays add some structure to the upper, but keep the shoe lightweight.

Saucony Kinvara 13 Review | Tested by GearLab

At 7.3 ounces in a men's size 95, this is one of the lightest models we've ever tested and its ultralight design makes this one of our favorites in the lineup. Simple, fast, light, nimble, it feels minimal in all the right places. The firmest and lightest of Saucony daily trainers, it makes a great speedwork option. However, we wouldn't put the shoe into the "wide toebox" category given that its forefoot width is 95.9 mm, which is a little narrower than average. Wherever the Saucony Ride goes, the Guide follows. The Guide 15 is the ’stability’ version of the neutral Ride 15, just like how the Brooks Adrenaline GTS is for the Ghost, or the Nike Structure for the Pegasus. Over the years, the brand has developed a wide range of running shoe categories for any type of run: easy, fast, race, trail, mud, etc. The sections below will help you make an informed decision on which models match your needs. What Other Running Shoes Should You Consider?

The Kinvara 12 was more of a miss because of its rather rigid ride. But with the Kinvara 13 turned out to be more forgiving and bouncier in our run tests! I opened the box and thought these look simple. Simple is good sometimes. There is no standout feature nor did I get a bold color like some other various color schemes that are offered in the model. Extremely light, undeniably fast, and pleasantly grippy. Add comfort, and you have the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3. From easy runs to races, from hot to cold weather, from dry to wet roads, this shoe can do it all and do it all great. Make way for the Endorphin Speed 3, the best overall Saucony running shoe. Even though the Triumph 20 features the same midsole material (Pwrrun+) as the 19, everything around it is brand new. The Triumph 20 uses a reformulated foam for the new model, so the ride is softer and lighter. Our in-depth review has all the details.
