In this blog, we’re going to talk about what the Father heart of God means for us. We’ll look at why God the Father is misconstrued as a cruel and judgemental being, and we’ll study scripture that points to His true character as a devoted Father. Why Do Some Think God the Father is Mean? As our Father’s children, let’s run to His arms—and give others the opportunity to do the same by showing compassion on others. Jesus was sent to be a reflection of the Father and lead the disciples to Yahweh. He also modeled what it is like to have an intimate relationship with God as a Father; Jesus even called him Papa. How to Know God as a Father John 14:6 says: ”Jesus said to him, ’I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.’”

If Jesus is the WAY, then there must be a destination. His ultimate goal was to tear the veil between us and the Father and lead us into God the Father’s loving embrace. That is what the Father heart of God is all about. In Love, He predestined us for adoption by grace! God doesn’t see us as His sons and daughters because we are perfect and serve him so well! God’s love for us is unconditional.I could go on but what is important is that you know and take hold of the fact that God’s Father-heart reveals all those things to be lies. God loves you and is calling you to greater intimacy; to a deeper knowledge of Him and His ways; to love Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. For how can one fully give their life, their heart, their soul, their affections, their EVERYTHING to a God whom they do not know? Such is what I wrestle with. Lord, I want to know you more... no, I NEED to know you more... if I am to have any hope of devotedly following your pillar of fire wherever it may rest in the stunning darkness that surrounds this world, I must know you. This is not a request but a desperate plea from a hungry, fully-dependent soul. Unfortunately, the misconceptions about God the Father that I grew up with are not uncommon. Many people see Him as a distant God who is in the sky, with a white beard, and looks down on us in judgment. Where did this image come from? I would've liked the discussion questions at the end of the book to be immediately following each chapter. I didn't even notice them, until we had read the whole book and it was too late to benefit from the guided interaction that I'm sure would've enhanced our interaction with the material.

Loved this book, as I had to admit I cried when reading this book, as it was a great book for me heading into Lent. Yet, I was a little disappointed that this book was not about God, the Father – which proclaims it’s about – experiencing the depths of his Love for you. But, after finishing this about a week ago, and reflecting on it, I can see why others feel upset that the book is not about the love of God, the Father, instead how the author who is a senior pastor has dealt dealing with the unbroken – lost souls of the world throughout his ministry by attempting to be an example of God’s love within the world. Therefore, I began to think to myself – isn’t this supposed to be our faith, and life mission upon the earth, to bring the Love God, the Father has for us, to the unbroken – lost souls of the world? Now, we are ready to begin looking at what the Bible says about the Father-heart of our Father in Heaven. 1. God as Our Father is Revealed in the Bible Resting securely in the love of God is a birthright of every believer. You can be confident that your Father loves you constantly with an unchanging love (Rom. 8:39). God declares that in His love, He wants to be involved in every area of your life. There is nothing you do that God does not care about. In Hebrews 12:5-11, the Scripture talks about Our Heavenly Father loving us so much that He will discipline and correct us at times. Our earthly fathers corrected us so that we would live in the best way possible. Likewise, God disciplines us so that we might become more and more like Jesus (2 Cor. 3:18). This takes place in various ways: As you read the Bible and realise you have been walking in some way that is displeasing to God; as a conviction or thought placed in your mind by the Holy Spirit, etc. In fact there are all sorts of ways our Father speaks with us to make sure we live the abundant life He has promised (Jn. 10:10). If you are ever in doubt here, then ask someone who is older and more experienced what they think. Based on the Bible, they will be able to guide and advise you. For he chose usin him before the creation of the worldto be holy and blamelessin his sight. In love hepredestinedus for adoption to sonshipthrough Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasureand will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”

Somehow, I received the message that God was upset with humans and Jesus protected us from his anger. When I eventually learned to see God as a kind and loving father, my entire walk with the Lord changed. Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’” (Luke 15:31–32) Jesus knew the Father’s heart better than anyone, and He delighted to reveal it to the rest of the Father’s sons and daughters. Then we will see healing in our lives, families, and world, as the Lord turns “the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers” (Malachi 4:6). Let’s not speed by these two words, forgetting their significance and power. If God truly is our Father, then this knowledge can transform how we live, pray, and serve. And transformed people will bring good news to a lost, hurting, and often fatherless world.
