Description

There are a couple of other pedals in the BOSS Loop Station range such as the RC-505MKII, but those pedals aren’t relevant for guitarists. They’re tabletop units designed for vocalists/DJs and don’t use footswitches. The list of effects hasn’t been released yet, so I will update this guide once I know exactly what the effects are. Even if it uses the same technology as the RC-5, the extra footswitches, buttons, and sliders give you significantly greater control over everything. RC-300 vs RC-500 When it comes to hooking up your computer, the RC 600 relies on USB Type B. Whereas the RC 500 uses a micro USB. If you’re a live performer and you think you’ll experiment with adding loops to your playing, the RC-3 is a great starting point.

Both these loopers incorporate real-time time-stretch, that actually works pretty well. We found that for speeding up the recording, this tends to work better than for slowing it down. It’s great to be able to jam along with basic loops, but there will be times when you want to take things further. You can connect FV-500H, FV-500L, EV30, or Roland EV-5 expression pedals to control various functions on the RC-600. If you’re a live performer looking for a solid range of features, the choice is tough between the RC-5 and other units such as the RC-10R, RC-30, or RC-500. BOSS RC-3 vs RC-5

Boss RC-600 6 Track Loop Station Overview

The compact design of the RC 600 means that the expression pedal which you found on the RC 300 has been removed. Whether that’s good or bad, depends on what you’re after in a pedal. To turn it on, press MENU, press knob 1 to select INPUT, then use knobs 3 and 4 to switch between Line and Inst. There have been times in the past when I bought a lower model pedal to save some money, only to regret it later on. I’ve never bought a more expensive model and wished I had fewer features.

If tap the footswitch twice, the loop stops. After stopping the loop, hold the footswitch down for longer than two seconds and the pedal will erase your loop. For anyone who’s often ‘on the go’, you’ll be pleased to know that the RC 500 can be powered by batteries (4X AAs). Something you cannot do with an RC 600 looper. When connecting to an output, turn on the power to your RC-600 first. When powering down, turn off the power to your RC-600 last.Aside from the size, the actual weight difference between these two is quite astounding. With the RC 500 being significantly smaller, it weighs in at less than 1kg! Whereas all the extra tech and functionality that’s crammed in to the RC 600 means that it weights in at about 2.4kg!

The RC-600 is the most feature-filled loop station covered in this guide. It surpasses the now-ancient RC-300 in many ways as well as introducing new features not found on any other loop station pedal. In addition, the "Loop sync OFF" function and the "sound drifting" are still not adressed in the recent updates by BOSS! If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered The way to think about this is you can build a dedicated loop for different parts of a song, different instruments, or different layers you want to start and stop without interrupting the rest of the music.Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty In this guide, I’ll go through each of the above pedal’s features and explain who each pedal may or may not suit. The above video uses a BOSS RC-50, which has been discontinued. But you can still achieve the same results with many of the pedals covered below. Which Loop Station is Best? Unlike the other loop station pedals in this guide, the RC-10R really does focus heavily on the rhythm aspects instead of the looping aspects. BOSS RC-10R vs RC-30 Note: If you want to know when the Boss RC-600 was released relative to other Boss looper pedals, we’ve made a timeline of all the Boss loopers here. The Boss RC-600 is Big. Really Big.
