I feel like I’m chatting to an understanding friend when I'm reading this book. So many aspects of living overseas are explored in such a personal way. The format makes it easy to dip into bits as needs and interests arise. Therefore, you shouldn’t try to “do” the parts of the serve that just happen. Finding Flow – How To Generate Effortless Power From Step-by-Step Mechanics On average, women should have around 2,000 calories a day (8,400 kilojoules) and men should have around 2,500 calories a day (10,500 kilojoules). We all need different amounts of energy (or calories) from food to be a healthy weight. How much you need depends on lots of things, including how active you are. The way you hold your racquet determines many things about the final serve technique and its effectiveness. Our fear of doing the wrong thing stops us from doing anything, which precludes us from serving anyone at all.

I know this appears an extreme simplification of the mental process but….does it approximately depict what you mean? Too often I see issues presented, and as a result viewed, not on their own merits but through the prism of what I think and what people think about me.” On her own future So, keep in mind that some parts of the serve are done by an intentional swing and applying force and some parts of the serve just happen because of relaxation and inertia. Serving God is one of the most important principles of the Christian faith, as believers are expected to help the church with a joyful spirit. “Love one another.” “Care for one another.” “Pray for one another.” “Encourage one another.” “Help one another.” “Counsel one another.” “Support one another.” Scripture repeatedly tells us of our relationship to God and others through service. A relaxed and loose way of accelerating the racquet gives you more power than tensing your bodyand arm and hitting the ball “hard” even though the latter approach seems to make more sense at first glance. Now, by no stretch of the imagination was my job the hardest in the country during that time. But the weight of responsibility was immense. And it’s only very recently, I think, that I’ve started to comprehend, let alone process, the physical and mental impact of it on me. When I think about what it really means to live out a life of service, I wish I would have eaten a slice of pizza with the man in Harlem that day. I would have done it not because I was this man’s only hope for a meal, but rather because it’s what I believe Jesus would have done. The more time we spend examining what it means to serve others well, it comes down to allowing our lives to be interrupted. Serving others means making space for their existence and seeing them as valuable and worthy to serve and be served, simply because God views them that way. first of all I really want to thank you so much for your excellent work in providing tennis players all over the world with such incredibly brilliant lessons! Despite I am novice in playing tennis (I’ve started about seven months ago at 37 years old and never held a raquet before in my life!), I’ve found great usefulness and significant improvement thanks to your videos and all the suggestions, drills, crystal clear explanations that you share with us. Honestly, you’ve taught me a lot of things that my coach has never told me…!! And the danger in this hitting part of the serve is that we initiate the swing up from a static position which in the long term might become a part of our whole serve technique.

We can serve others well when we actively decide to take on the role of a servant. This seems obvious, but missing this step can lead to doing more harm than good. When we study the life of Jesus, we find countless examples where he took on the role of the servant. From choosing to wash the feet of his disciples to the very decision of coming to earth and living as an ordinary human, Christ continually humbled himself for the sake of others and switched places with people in the lowliest of positions. There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others. At EM, we follow our specific approach to missions which allows us to be influenced and changed by the people we seek to serve. This creates avenues for mutual respect and, ultimately, mutual change. In the same way, allowing yourself to be served (accepting a meal or coffee, or letting someone pray for you) is often an incredibly meaningful way to serve someone else. It levels the playing field and communicates to the person you’re serving that they have value, that they matter.

Going now into the topic of your post and of my comment to it (which is rather a question than a comment): the serve. Still a very challenging shot for me, much more than basic groundstrokes, especially the pronation phase. Anyway, I’ve watched your videos about the serve and pronation technique for several times so that I’m now building up quite a clear mental image of the whole thing and progressively improving each time I train on the court. As someone who has been in my host country for 10 plus years, this book has a lot I can both resonate with and learn from. I’d forgotten the stress of moving to a new country but reading the Moving Well section reminded me I used to “see danger everywhere”. Asia is now the place I find the easiest to live, so this was a surprise to remember. I’ve heard people around me mention their trailing spouse issues but I haven’t experienced it for myself. Now that I’ve read about just how stressful it can be, and that it can be resolved, hopefully I can be more useful the next time it comes up in my community. We swing the racquet initially in the other direction than in the direction of the target, and this difference is even bigger when it comes to topspinand slice serves.
