Of course, this solution isn’t going to be practical for longer trips where you don’t have regular access to boiling water, but even on a road trip you will likely be staying overnight in a property with access to a kettle where you can prepare water for the day ahead. Air Pressure: Our unique plunge system uses gentle pressure to push water through the grinds, aerating and extracting only the purest, freshest flavors for a cup with body and finish not normally found in coffee. There are so many ways to use the AeroPress Clear,” Justin tells me. “There are also plenty of resources and people online who can help you find the best recipe for your needs.

So as you can see there are a few less things included with the AeroPress Clear, particularly there is no funnel and fewer paper filters. To be fair, I’ve never used the funnel, so that is a logical omission. However, including fewer paper filters is a bit mean, especially as the AeroPress Clear is quite a bit more expensive. Both Justin and Caitlin believe there are a number of reasons why AeroPress launched the Clear brewer. The main difference comes down to whether or not you want a mug and how much coffee you want to make. We’d recommend starting with the instructions as provided by AeroPress as these have been tested and designed to work well. Then once you’ve got those down, you can try some alternative methods if you’d like to experiment.

All of these products are primarily designed to make a single cup of great coffee with minimal fuss. The AeroPress is one of the most recognisable brewers in the global coffee industry. Invented by former engineering lecturer Alan Adler in 2004, the first AeroPress – which was clear-coloured with a blue-ish hue – was officially launched in November 2005 at Seattle’s CoffeeFest. Shortly after, the brewer had already gained a cult following. Note that with the launch of the AeroPress XL, not all accessories will work with this as it is larger. So things like the metal mesh filter for example which are compatible with the original AeroPress, AeroPress Go and AeroPress Clear, will not fit the new AeroPress XL. Thanks very much, I’m glad I was able to inform you about the AeroPress Go. Also, thanks very much for your query about milk. This is actually a challenge we have faced because Jess much prefers her coffee with milk, and milk is hard to travel with. We currently tend to do one of two things, we either travel with powdered milk, which can be ok if mixed properly rather than directly added to the coffee. Alternatively, because Jess prefers real milk, we find single serve sachets of UHT milk. These are the sort of thing you find in hotels that have coffee making facilities in the rooms. I have updated the tips section of the post to add something about milk, so thanks again for bringing this to my attention. There are several key features that set the AeroPress Clear apart from the other variants and make it a compelling coffee maker option. Let’s take a closer look at some of these features: Aesthetic & Design

With the AeroPress Clear, you can see if any grounds aren’t fully saturated,” Cailtin explains. “You can then stir the coffee a few more times, or stir more aggressively, and see how agitation affects extraction.” Finally, there is the AeroPress XL, also launched in 2023. This is larger version of the original AeroPress, which can brew twice as much coffee (20oz / 590ml). Below are some images comparing the two products and accessories side by side. AeroPress Go chamber with depressed plunger (left) and AeroPress original chamber with depressed plunger (right)Of course, you can adjust variables like the amount of coffee you use, and whether you add hot water to the cups after the brew to compensate for the strength of the coffee. But it is worth considering.

In terms of coffee production, one brew will produce 10oz of coffee. It is designed to brew the coffee directly into a mug or coffee cup.The AeroPress brewing process involves the user pushing water through a filter, so this is a pressurized extraction like an espresso, although at a lower pressure. Espresso makers have to produce around 9 bars of pressure to qualify as espresso machines, whilst an AeroPress is around 0.5 bars of pressure. One travel coffee mug which fits AeroPress brewers is this mug from THERMOS, but there are several brands on the market to choose from when looking for a travel mug. We also like Contigo and Stanley travel mugs. For hot brew coffee, stir the hot water and coffee grounds for 10 seconds using the stirrer. For cold brew coffee, stir for 1 minute.

It sports the same compact size (5.26″ tall and 4.22″ in diameter) and lightweight build, plus the plastic construction makes it safe from unwanted breakage inside your bag; unlike my former French press that now rests in pieces. As for its capacity, the AeroPress Clear can also make a cup of coffee in one brewing (or two strong cups you can dilute afterward). Versatility and Performance When I bought my first AeroPress around years 2010-2011, the design had already changed to the tinted version with blue numerals. I’ve also used the 2010 version 4 model, which has blue lettering, and used a different material for the seal. Now, all the models are made using silicone seals.Iconic press, made with the same patented technology, now available in crystal clear, shatterproof Tritan™. Cool enough for display, tough enough for the road. It is worth pointing out that AeroPress specifically recommends against the use of mesh filters because they feel you get better coffee from paper filters.
