Description

Whilst these two flashes are very similar, the AD200 Pro has the edge on the AD200, meaning that of the two, it is the AD200 Pro that you will struggle to find a Godox user without! The AD200 Pro is the most popular of this entire range for its versatility, and portable nature. When used in a studio setting, its formidable power is more than sufficient for illuminating full-length portraits, all while eliminating the inconvenience and potential safety hazards associated with cumbersome wires. Moreover, this versatile flash can be easily utilized outdoors, making it a valuable tool for countering intense sunlight or enhancing the impact of nighttime photography sessions. The Godox AD range of flash heads is by far the most popular of the Godox flash series and for good reason! Every light is powerful, portable, lightweight and exceptionally high quality, so it's no wonder that photographers are all looking to expand their kit using these lighting solutions. However, a few of the questions we often get asked are, what exactly is the difference between the lights in this series, what can each power level of the AD range get you, and which modifiers will these lights work with? To answer these questions, and more, we have created a comprehensive guide to buying your Godox AD flash head! RECHARGEABLE LITHIUM-ION BATTERY: The AD300 Pro comes with an advanced lithium-ion battery that has been designed for performance, making it more reliable than ever when shooting on location. The battery is loaded into the underside of the unit to keep it super compact due to its small size, whilst still offering a recycle time of just 0.01-1.8s with up to approximately 300 full-power flashes. The AD300 Pro battery is completely interchangeable, allowing one to be on charge whilst the other is firing away. In high-speed sync however, the color temperature drops to the 5300K range, with a CRI of 95 and .4 green cast, which is still acceptable and will only require a minor adjustment. You may find however that when combined with a softbox, especially one with a white interior, that the AD300 Pro in HSS renders a subject overly warm when in a daylight or cloudy environment. T.1 Flash durations.

Built-In Godox 2.4G Wireless X System with Great Compatibility: AD300Pro is compatible with Canon E-TTL II, Nikon i-TTL autoflash, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus and Panasonic TTL autoflash systems with support for 1/8000s high-speed sync.Offering 100Ws of power in a compact body (sizing in at just 120x76x76 mm, of the size of a can for scale!), as well as 390 full-power flashes from a single charge of its rechargeable battery! This makes the AD100 Pro perfect for traveling photographers, event photographers, as well as any on-location shoots, due to its wireless, portable and lightweight nature. If you turn it on in the custom functions, the AD300 Pro will display T.1 flash durations on the LCD. This figure measures the time it takes for the flash to drop from its peak brightness to 10% of its peak brightness. It’s useful for determining how well the flash can freeze motion at a given power setting. Built- in receiver for triggering and power control with 2.4G X system compatible with 7 camera brands (Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olimpus, Panasonic and Pentax). Use Godox X2 or Xpro trigger to easily trigger the strobe wirelessly and control all the setting. Combined with a super high contrast VA display, you can also adjust the setting via its clear control panel.

Fully compatible with the latest Godox 2.4Ghz X-Series triggers, the AD300Pro’s built-in receiver continues the success of the user friendly X1T, X2T and XPro. Using these latest Godox X-Series of triggers, the AD300Pro allows full TTL and HSS remote power control up to 100m (~300ft) away. It can fully support Canon E-TTL, Nikon i-TTL, Sony TTL, Fuji TTL and Olympus TTL systems. However, Godox learned from the AD200 and what they learned they applied to the Pro. On the AD200 Pro they improved the recycle time from 0.01-2.1s to 0.01 to 1.8s, as well as offering a greater choice of power ranges (1/256-1/1 in 1/10th stop increments instead of 1/128-1/1 in 8 stops). They also improved upon the design of the flash by adding a sunken LCD screen to the unit which protects the screen against damage in the case of being dropped or blown over. Photographers from diverse skill levels will find something to like about the AD-Pro range. From its compact and portable design to its impressive output, advanced features, and overall performance, these lights have fast become a staple in the toolkits of professionals and enthusiasts alike. There is a light for everyone in the Godox AD-Pro range, from the tiny AD100Pro, the uniquely designed AD200Pro, up to the very powerful AD400Pro and AD600Pro. All offer different power outputs but are built around the same fundamentals of portable battery power and one unifying wireless system for controlling any and all lights in the range. The 100Ws of power is suitable to fill a softbox and so can be used with a range of modifiers and still produce an excellent effect within your work. Due to its size, the AD100 Pro is a great light to hold and maneuver as you need. Because it is so light and small, it is perfect for squeezing into tight spaces and angles to achieve the perfect lighting. It can also be simply held in your hand and moved around accordingly which isn’t possible or can be uncomfortable with bigger and heavier lights.

I want to focus on the bi-colour LED modeling lamp, a first for a Godox X series strobe, and no doubt influenced by Profoto’s introduction of the feature on the B10. The AD300 Pro’s modeling lamp color can be adjusted from 3000k to 6000k. Again, this can only currently be done on the strobe itself, not from the trigger. Perhaps this will be added with a firmware update, there’s certainly room for this control on the Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II. Now, don’t get too excited about this, as it’s only a 12w LED. The CRI of the flash is very high at 97.9, with a CCI green cast of .1. In layman’s terms, this light is extremely neutral and will render colors accurately. The AD300Pro is characterized by low weight (only 1.4 kg with battery, dish, flash tube and handle). It is equipped with an LCD screen, as well as a tripod mount with smooth adjustment of the angle of inclination. An additional advantage is the light and compact housing made of high-quality film materials. damage caused by external factors such as flooding with liquid, moisture, too high or too low temperature, atmospheric discharges, chemical agents, and other factors beyond the Guarantor's controlI tested the flash durations using the Sekonic L-858d-u light meter, and the results were all better than the figures Godox includes on the display. In it’s included reflector, at 2 feet away, the modeling lamp metered at F/2 +.2, at 1/250s and ISO 400. This means just over F/1.0 at ISO 100. It’s extremely dim, and that’s when it’s close, using a reflector. In any type of softbox, it’s going to be even less bright, and less useable. Some might wonder if this will function as a video light, and I just don’t see it being very useful. Not only because of it’s low brightness, but also the fan creates a fair amount of noise when the LED is on max power. At most I imagine you’ll be able to use the LED for lighting close detail shots and getting focus in dark environments. At flash power settings up to and including 1/4 maximum power, recycle speeds proved virtually instantaneous in our tests, official specifications rating them at around 1/100th of a second. Recycling is still fast at 1/2 and full-power settings, recorded at 0.5 and 1.5 seconds respectively.
