Eleanor is scared, something is going on, her best friend has disappeared and her boyfriend who is also her boss's son assures her that she is fine but Eleanor can't help but feel he's lying. The problem is everyone she talks to tells her to let it go. She never thought much about her boss and his son but some things are just not adding up. Hunter is no prince in anyone's fairy tale, especially not in Isobel's but for her, he may just be more. He may have messed up and hurt Isobel but he's never not loved her and he's never loved, anyone. No matter what she thinks he's going to put things right.

Two incredibly flawed and broken characters in a world that is evil and dark. There should be no way to get past what happened but Ria fights for their happy ending and I was holding on tight the whole way for them to get there. I can't say why this is a 4 star story instead of 5 star without a spoiler but let's just say - I don't love what Isobel and Hunter do to Kingston in the end. The narration was so well done. Joe Arden is a fan favorite, and his narration in this book was AMAZING!! I am now on a mission to find more books with his voice diction of Kingston (you will love that guy a well). I am not as familiar with Zara Hampton-Brown but she is now on a short list of finding more books. The acting was well done and really felt like you were there in the story and not being read to. The production choices of how it was sliced together and pacing was perfect. It was very easy to get enthralled by the story. I loved how the story was told in past and present timelines. It was a very wild and crazy ride. This was the perfect introduction to a Ria Wilde book. She is a new-to-me author, and one I look forward to listening to again soon. I cannot wait for the next book to come out on audio. The plot and character development were wonderful, you can feel what the characters feel. The angst and the lust, and the deeper feelings that emerge as obsession leads way for real feelings to develop. This is a dark romance/mafia trope with enemies to lovers for the main characters. There is plenty of suspense that had me on the edge and the chemistry between the two is enough to have you feeling hot and bothered. Honestly, Kingston is enough to get you hot and bothered all on his own. There is no cliff-hanger for this one but the overlying story arch isn't completed, we will get more in book 2. Told in dual POV I really enjoyed getting both characters' perspectives on the events and their relationship. Her sweet nature was like a beacon for my depraved heart, and I knew going anywhere near her would be her damnation. But I felt like the relationship between Colt and Mia was just ok, sexually, emotionally, all of that. Just ok.

I am so undecided as to how I feel about this book which is really unusual for me, I usually have an opinion about pretty much everything. On approximately day two or three of them knowing each other, apparently she is the "Prez's woman"(and a few chapters later we find out that the night Colt and Mia met - where they talked all of five minutes and shared a kiss - that Colt announced to his club his intention of making Mia his old lady.). His lips brushed my forehead, "I love you. Losing you would devastate me. My life has no meaning without you. There. Are you happy?"What would you do for the woman you love. Would you lie, cheat, deceive, steal for her? No? He would, there are no lengths that he wouldn’t go to have her. To keep her safe and he will threaten, maime and kill anyone who looks at her the wrong way. Hunter thought he was doing the right thing and was trying to keep her safe. He soon realized it was killing them both Besides the romance being beautiful there was a lot of other story going on as well. Some of it had me legitimately crying tears. Like streaming down my face. This was definitely an emotional read which is why I'm trying to decide if I want to put it on my re-read shelf because it took a lot out of me. However, let me tell you, it was so well written. For an author to make me feel that much, you have to give her props. there was a character death that had me stunned to speak for a few moments after reading it, I had hoped for this character to get their story told eventually but alas, not meant to be. Mr. Arden as Hunter is absolutely spectacular. If I hadn't gotten hooked by the prologue, the growl in chapter four definitely sealed my fate. This is one of my favorite performances by him this year. His ability to make his voice fit with the character, keep pace, and deliver the emotional impact of what Hunter is, left me wanting more. I would be remiss if I didn't also mention how well he played the side characters, because it was phenomenal.

Isobel’s fairy tale was never a pretty one. She met Hunter years ago when she was abducted and held by men against her will. He became her will to keep living. Until he wasn’t, being betrayed by him. For years she’s been planning her revenge, she is hellbent on getting even with him and ending him. She isn’t the same girl she was when she was taken all those years ago.

Where to Find the Town Yngovani in Diablo 4

Mia … There were so many times that I wanted to stop reading this book because of her. I feel like she was written to be tough, but honestly, she was tiring AF. She was selfish and didn’t really understand that she couldn’t take on the world by herself. Also the ending was unbelievable on a couple of fronts, one: you have two bad guys holding two people one of the bad guys is killed with no mention of the other person yet they are magically free? Like did he let go and run or something? I won’t be posting TW/CW, I feel like this is something you need to go into blind. If you’ve read Twisted City Duet then you have an idea of it but LORD, it’s SPICER, SMUTTY, AND THE EVENTS taken place is to DIE FOR. I am biased though bc Ria is my MAIN 🥰😍🥺 I am OBSESSED with Hunter. He is the most ruthless villain, yet I’d want him for myself as much as Isobel! The chemistry between these two are what people can only imagine. Their obsession for one another deadly. Isobel is as much as a bad*ss as Hunter, the two of them the perfect storm. When it comes to Eleanor, he was attracted to her but also liked the way she trembled/fears him whenever he was around…. With little stalking and pushover ‘convincing’, they both fell in love with each other.
