About this deal

I genuinely find this the hardest part and it takes me few tries to connect them in the correct way – but that’s possibly just my illogical brain. Manoeuvring around corners wasn’t too bad, but it just doesn’t stay in constant forward movement and its lack of a hard surface on the bottom means it doesn’t go particularly fast either. So I fold it and put it in my trunk so no worries about installing a kayak on top of my car like I would have to do with a non inflatable! Not to forget that the Intex Challenger K2 is supplied with all the necessary accessories (two double paddles and an air pump). This means that your pump inflates both on the upwards and downwards strokes so you get maximum results for the least effort.

The Challenger K1 Kayak provides added accessories including: one 86 inch aluminium paddle and an Intex high-output pump for easy inflation and deflation. As always the styling has to be important and Intex’s use of color certainly helps this inflatable kayak stand out from the crowd. At 5’3″ and 5’6″ we had plenty of room for our legs in front, but the inflatable cone that goes down by your feet to hold the cockpit open for your toes takes up some room, so keep that in mind. The Challenger K2 has some hard-to-reach areas (especially in the bug) that makes wiping the boat dry quite difficult.

Packing away is a bit of a pain (but I’d still prefer it than heaving a fibreglass kayak over my head and strapping onto a car! lbs each, which is not too heavy for an entry-level double paddle) definitely serve their purpose for beginners and are comfortable to paddle for short distances. For paddling from time to time a bit on a calm and small lake where you want to relax the Challenger K2 is great option.

We get you: you live in a small space, love the outdoors, and don’t have the cash to drop on a fiberglass boat either! The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware. As for teardown, as you might expect, getting all the air out of the kayak isn’t as easily done as filling it up.

It doesn’t track very well and it’s not too durable either, but for the amount of money you’re paying, that is to be expected.

It certainly wasn’t the smooth, swift ride of a 17-foot fiberglass boat, and these inflatable models aren’t going to be winning any races, but who cares? It doesn't feel as stable to paddle though, as the inflated sides are smaller and thinner than many, allowing plenty of side-to-side rocking in waves or with excitable children. We now wanted to know for ourselves how is it to paddle the Intex 1-person kayak and can it compete with a good quality inflatable kayak.
