The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with the ingredients of Beechams all in one. Just because a side effect is stated here doesn't mean that all people using Beechams all in one will experience that or any side effect. If you take Beechams max strength all in one in the hour before or the six hours after taking colestyramine, the paracetamol is likely to be less effective. This is because colestyramine reduces the absorption of paracetamol from the gut. This medicine is licensed for adults aged 16 years and over. How does Beechams max strength all in one work?

Beechams max strength all in one capsules and hot drinks contain the painkiller paracetamol, a cough expectorant called guaifenesin and a decongestant called phenylephrine hydrochloride. These three active ingredients have different actions to relieve your symptoms. This product should not be used by patients taking other sympathomimetics (such as decongestants, appetite suppressants and amphetamine-like psychostimulants) (see section 4.5). WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your The Beechams range includes Powders, Cold & Flu Hot Powder for oral solution range, Cold & Flu Capsules, Breathe Clear Hot Honey & Lemon Menthol Flavour Powder for Oral Solution, Flu Plus Hot Lemon, Flu Plus Caplets, All in One Tablets, All in One liquid, Max Strength All in One Capsules. For cold & flu relief. Always read the label. Don't take Beechams all in one if you have taken a type of medicine called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days. MAOIs include the antidepressants phenelzine, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid and moclobemide, and the anti-Parkinson's medicines selegiline, safinamide and rasagiline. This is because the combination of phenylephrine with these medicines could cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis).Hypersensitivity reactions - including that cross-sensitivity may occur with other sympathomimetics. Adults, the elderly and children aged 16 years and over: For oral use. Swallow 2 capsules whole with water, do not chew, every four hours as required. Do not take more than 8 capsules (4 doses) in any 24 hour period.

It's fine to take Beechams all in one with plain ibuprofen or aspirin (assuming these are appropriate for you). However, don't take it with co-codamol, co-dydramol or Tramacet because these contain paracetamol.Phenylephrine hydrochloride is irregularly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and undergoes first-pass metabolism by monoamine oxidase in the gut and liver; orally administered phenylephrine thus has reduced bioavailability. It is excreted in the urine almost entirely as the sulphate conjugate.
