A smooth mid range makes the Major IIIs especially suited to listening to guitar music – unsurprising considering Marshall’s rock heritage. At his father’s suggestion he took up tap dancing to strengthen the bones in his legs and he soon discovered that he had a flair for music.

Pairing is easy – just hold down the joystick for a few more seconds when powering the headphones on and find them on your phone. Slimmer and a little more stylish than 2016's Marshall Major II, their light build makes them ideal for long journeys, although the pinching sensation typical of on-ear headphones is an issue. While listening via Bluetooth, another set of headphones can also be plugged into the Major III via the 3.No problems with connectivity and great sound, according to my lucky boyfriend who got them for Christmas.

On Jay-Z and Kanye West's "No Church in the Wild," the kick drum loop is delivered with ideal high-mid presence, allowing its attack to retain its sharp punch, while the loop is also imbued with some added bass depth. Marshall has been celebrated by some of the world’s greatest bands and musicians including: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Slash, Oasis, Muse, Gorillaz and Slaves.Like the Marshall Major III's predecessor, the slightly chunkier Major II, these headphones have a leather-look - but they’re actually made out of vinyl material. I'll have a full review of the Marshall Major III Bluetooth after I spend a little more time with them. The brass plate is proudly etched with the establishment date of 1962 – a subtle nod to the brand’s heritage and over 50 years of loud.

However, they’re one step below the top performers in their class, lacking some of the dynamics and scale that helps you get lost in music. However, for general use, the sound is warm and balanced enough to give you a great listening experience. They're mid-range in comparison with other Bluetooth, wireless headphones and once you add in the long battery life, you have very well placed set of entry-level headphones. In January 2019 I had to warranty them because a small part of the hinge failed and it wasn't repairable. All in all, the singular control button simplifies the headphones, but it does take some time to get used to it.The lightweight headphones are ever-so-slightly slimmer than the previous Major II headphones, and come in two variations: Bluetooth and wired, with the latter option being considerably cheaper. If the battery is low, plug the headphones into a USB power source using the provided micro USB cable and let them charge for approximately 3 hours. For about 2 years now they've been my home/school/video watching and music listening headphones and stay in my room 24/7.

While thicker loop wires with reinforced rubber dampers that contribute to the overall solid build quality. They’re also fully foldable, which is fantastic for listening on the go and packing tidily and safely into a bag. It has a variable bit rate (between 279kbps and 420kbps), which means it can adjust the bit rate for different scenarios, such as listening to HD audio or reducing interference from other devices. Overall, after 5 years of owning and daily using the same headphones I can confidently cay that they are pretty solid.

Prior to my career in reviewing tech, I worked as an audio engineer—my love of recording audio eventually led me to writing about audio gear.
